Mad Mats, dating back his famous Raw Fusion Parties, is definitely one of the best "Club Jazz" DJ's in the World even if most of the people know him as a great House Dj with amazing Hip Hop Skills!

He has done for "My Favorite Things" a great mix including some digital only and unreleased tracks like this killer Incognito Remix by MAW and this hard to find, CD Only, Billy Foster’s Samba tune !

Mats has selected too some rare gems, which remember he was a very serious digger and records collector during the 80’s and 90’s like the Killer Britfunk "Final Approach" by ICQ !

Some Future classics also featured by Mats and myself like the EWF’s Cover "Can’t hide love" by Mishcael Stephenson and one of the best Jazz record of the year by Emma-Jean Thackray.

To close out the year "en beauté", I’m excited to present a guest mix from the legendary Parisian DJ Chabin. He started his career over 40 years ago, and was one of the first French DJ's who played Fusion Jazz, Jazz funk, Heavy Funk and early Hip Hop. For MIMS he put together a  lovely mix of 1H00 including some Hip Hop Samples, Rare Grooves and track for the Jazz Rock Dancers, which is one of his specialities.

As for myself, as usual I selected my favorite recent Jazz digging including the last José James, un unknown EWF cut recently reissued on Vinyl, an extract of the second album of Aldorande, my favorite french fusion Jazz Band and the last Alex Malheiros from Azymuth featuring his Daughter !

Announcing new album ‘Strata Records – The Sound of Detroit – Reimagined by Jazzanova’, BBE Music, DJ Amir and 180 Proof records present the first single from the project, ‘Creative Musicians, featuring remixes by Waajeed and Henrik Schwarz.

‘Strata Records – The Sound of Detroit – Reimagined by Jazzanova’ is no ‘covers’ album, rather a brand-new celebration of the iconic imprint, as Jazzanova’s take on Lyman Woodard Organization’s musical manifesto ‘Creative Musicians’ makes clear from its Afrobeat-inspired horn arrangements, drum track, and syncopated tempo.

The vocalist for these sessions is Sean Haefeli, who originally hails from Indianapolis, and brings a relaxed urgency to his contributions, sounding like a young Gil Scott-Heron.

Leveraging his 20 plus year friendship with legendary Detroit DJ/Producer extraordinaire, Waajeed, Amir enlists him for a special four-to-the-floor mix that not only keeps that organic vibe but also adds a unique contemporary Detroit flavour!

Henrik Schwarz needs little introduction to fans of eclectic electronic sounds. For over thirty years, his amazing body of work has packed dancefloors worldwide. Henrik takes ‘Creative Musicians’ in a slightly different direction, retaining many of Jazzanova’s original elements while adding his signature sound to the mix, providing another dance floor scorcher!

And just to give you proper context, we have included the cult-classic, much-loved original version of ‘Creative Musicians’ by the Lyman Woodard Organization.

Well as you know we like to mix things up here at Super Disco Edits, and we are taking it back to raw unissued studio funk with a slightly risqué message.  We don't know too much about The Michigans, but it comes from the Don Davis studios, engineered by the legendary and recently departed Ed Wolfdrum. What you get on "Look At My Back Wheels" is raw blue eyed funk with a Hip Hop producers dream. Some ripe open drums and a stab to cut up chop. Not only that half way through the song drives along with a motoring baseline over the drums. Flip it over and an equally as nice down blues style soul song that could sit among many a classic lp

MIMS is excited to premiere a brand new "Sacred Rhythms - Cosmic Arts Version" of Nicola Conte & Gianluca Petrella’s "Inner Light" featuring Raashan Ahmad, by legendary DJ, producer, remixer, and Body & Soul co-founder, Joaquin "Joe" Claussell. Forthcoming on Italy's Shema Records.

This remix is one of a pair, the remix being dub, also by Claussell, following Nicola Conte & Gianluca Petrella’s 2021 collaborative jazz dance album ‘People Need People’.

"Inner Light" ft Raashan Ahmad is the first song from the album chosen for a series of reinterpretations of the project, to be released throughout 2022.

Joaquin Joe Claussell needs no introduction, the Body & Soul founder and Sacred Rhythm label honcho is a true legend and purveyor of spirituality –a cosmic messenger that brings us two versions of ‘Inner Light’.

This 12” is the first in a series that will feature Anthony Nicholson, DJ Spinna and Tall Black Guy reinterpreting tracks from the original album.

Founded in 1996 by Peter Adarkwah, Barely Breaking Even (BBE Music) started life as a London club night, taking its name from the eponymous Disco record by the Universal Robot Band.

The label grew from the vibrant early 90's club scene with its first release, Stop & Listen compiled by Dr Bob Jones in 1996, opening the door to iconic series' such as All Back To Mine & Late Nite Tales.

A tonne of releases followed, ranging from Disco to Funk, Jazz to House. In the year 2000, the label celebrated Masters at Work's 10th Anniversary with a mighty box set that featured near 80 tracks.

A year later BBE Music spawned the Beat Generation Series of artist albums, notably introducing J Dilla (Welcome 2 Detroit) & a young Will.I.Am's first solo outing, alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, Madlib & DJ Spinna, all of whom contributed to this seminal set of long players.

A quarter of a century and well over 500 titles later, having worked with Mark Ronson, Roy Ayers, Questlove, Hugh Masekela, DJ Premier, Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro, Kon, RZA, Laurent Garnier, Black Coffee, DJ Shadow, David Rodigan and John Morales among many others, BBE Music looks to the future, celebrating its rich heritage while continuing to release a bounty of fresh titles.

The label’s most recent projects include an expansive reissue series from pioneering Nigerian label Tabansi, new imprint ‘Batakari’ in association with Boddhi Satva and the critically acclaimed ‘J Jazz’ Japanese Jazz multi-album project, not to mention the recent landmark 500th label release: a brand new version of 'Barely Breaking Even', featuring Leroy Burgess, Patrick Adams and Louie Vega.

In 2021 BBE Music is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To mark this milestone, the label is offering up some special projects, from the 20th Anniversary edition of J Dilla’s ‘Welcome 2 Detroit’, through David Bowie tribute album ‘Modern Love’, to a special new ‘Worldwide’ compilation from old friend Gilles Peterson.
