Native to New York, musclecars is a DJ / Producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the artform. Their desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around their community- the end goal is to bring people together. Through a regular stream of high quality mixes, they have begun to turn heads in underground circles. In 2018 they launched ‘Coloring Lessons’, a party that was aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. The monthly party's intention is to bring New York City's dance music scene back to what it was during the golden era of NY nightlife. They aim to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers.

Wendy Bevan is a British Musician and Multimedia Artist who combines a surreal, theatrical approach to her work across genres in performance, live visuals, experimental art-works, in musical performance, galleries and photographic imagery. She has developed a unique cinematic world and style of her own making. Wendy’s free spirit and personality as an artist in the most authentic sense enables her to freewheel between genres making panoptic, multifaceted art works. She believes in creating a universal language and balance in the crossover of disciplines. Her vivid and dramatic imagination reveals her immense creative, surreal energy as a story teller, conjuring an alternative, ethereal universe. 

As a singer, Wendy has collaborated with music producers including Paul Simm (Neneh Cherry/Amy Winehouse) Howie B (Bjork/ Tricky), Marc Collin (Nouvelle Vague), Matthew Halsall and The Gondwana Orchestra. As a Violinist, the Balanescu Quartet and the experimental sound artist and producer, Christos Fanaras (Acid Witch Mountain/Elephant House). In 2015 Saints Don’t Sleep, her EP produced by Richard Frenneaux, was released. Complimented by an exhibition of Wendy’s photographic work and music video accompanying her new songs. The full project was launched at IMPOSSIBLE Project Space, Paris.

Love From the Moon, released on Unknown Pleasures Records in February 2016, rose to number one in the European Alternative Charts, paving the way for the success of her recent EP release Sweet Dedication. The ethereal, electronic EP coxes us down darkly-lit corridors of her universe to the throb of the synth, featuring two tracks from Wendy’s fourth-coming debut album Rose and Thorn produced by Marc Collin. The cold-wave, minimalist synth album in the wake of heroes like Suicide and Kas Product, mainly recorded on a Jupiter 8 and vintage drum machines, features live strings arranged and performed by the Balanescu Quartet, due to be released on Kwaidan and !K7 Records, September 2016.

The backdrop of minimalist post-punk basslines throb under Wendy’s dark vocals, accompanied by glimmers of needling synths and reverb-laden electronic organ, coming together to create a oeuvre that sits between Siouxsie Sioux and the dramatic mini-symphonies of Brooklyn’s Wood Kid. Several of Wendy's songs have been synched with feature films including Hanging on the Wire (2015) on ‘Anti-Social’ the Brit gangster movie directed by Reg Traviss and feature film, On Landguard Point scored by Michael Nyman in 2012 which featured Starless Night (Co-Written by David McAlmont).
Although initially training as a Photographer at Art school, born into a theatrical family, Wendy led a parallel life studying Performance and Music at Drama college. Bevan has exhibited and performed throughout the UK, Europe and internationally across prestigious platforms; galleries, venues including ICA, David Roberts Art Foundation, Toynbee Studios, Arts Admin, Hackney Empire and music festivals Latitude, Wilderness, Secret Garden Party. Live art performance festivals; SPILL Festival, Edinburgh Festival and with immersive theatre pioneers Punchdrunk. 

The various roles Wendy has cast herself over the last decade, be it as vocalist, visual artist, lyricist, photographer, filmmaker, and performer, she melts and morphs wherever a concept leads her, conceiving and manipulating her work as a means of creating a character, enabling her to deliver immersive experiences to her audiences. Wendy is a visionary and her love of theatricality is ever present in whatever she pursues.

'We Know How To Boogie' is a joyful romp through the finest forgotten dance-floor disco and soul from the 70's and 80's. Compiled by Italian brothers Gino and Federico Grasso. Bona fide 'disco dons', collecting music for over 30 years and supplying the likes Dimitri From Paris, Sadar Bahar and Volcov with obscure gems. Gino is a familiar face behind the decks in his hometown of Bologna and across Italy, while Federico's DJing outings are more occasional. Music, passion and knowledge has seen Gino play underground clubs the world over, including Le Souk in NYC and the Bussey Building and Brilliant Corners in London. Many of the tracks included on 'We Know How To Boogie' have become 'signature tunes' for DJs such as Phil Asher, Sadar Bahar, Joe Davis, Ltj X- perience and Daniele Baldelli, rarely if ever leaving their record boxes. Containing several exclusive edits from G&D, 'We Know How To Boogie' is simply filled with sure-fire hits for the discerning dance-floor. Lesser known tracks remastered from eye-wateringly expensive original vinyl releases by William Barlak, Living Colour & Carol Meriwether rub shoulders with the truly obscure and utterly wonderful French-Canadian disco outfit Black Sun in what can only be described as a musical celebration like you've never heard before. This 'Italian Job' is guaranteed to do more than just 'blow the bloody doors off'.

Founded in 1996 by Peter Adarkwah, Barely Breaking Even (BBE Music) started life as a London club night, taking its name from the eponymous Disco record by the Universal Robot Band.

The label grew from the vibrant early 90's club scene with its first release, Stop & Listen compiled by Dr Bob Jones in 1996, opening the door to iconic series' such as All Back To Mine & Late Nite Tales.

A tonne of releases followed, ranging from Disco to Funk, Jazz to House. In the year 2000, the label celebrated Masters at Work's 10th Anniversary with a mighty box set that featured near 80 tracks.

A year later BBE Music spawned the Beat Generation Series of artist albums, notably introducing J Dilla (Welcome 2 Detroit) & a young Will.I.Am's first solo outing, alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, Madlib & DJ Spinna, all of whom contributed to this seminal set of long players.

A quarter of a century and well over 500 titles later, having worked with Mark Ronson, Roy Ayers, Questlove, Hugh Masekela, DJ Premier, Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro, Kon, RZA, Laurent Garnier, Black Coffee, DJ Shadow, David Rodigan and John Morales among many others, BBE Music looks to the future, celebrating its rich heritage while continuing to release a bounty of fresh titles.

The label’s most recent projects include an expansive reissue series from pioneering Nigerian label Tabansi, new imprint ‘Batakari’ in association with Boddhi Satva and the critically acclaimed ‘J Jazz’ Japanese Jazz multi-album project, not to mention the recent landmark 500th label release: a brand new version of 'Barely Breaking Even', featuring Leroy Burgess, Patrick Adams and Louie Vega.

In 2021 BBE Music is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To mark this milestone, the label is offering up some special projects, from the 20th Anniversary edition of J Dilla’s ‘Welcome 2 Detroit’, through David Bowie tribute album ‘Modern Love’, to a special new ‘Worldwide’ compilation from old friend Gilles Peterson.
