I recently discovered the Average Man lost scriptures in an old book and thought it was only right to record them and put them up. The first Average Man I did probably gets played more than my music but that's cool with me. It was a creative exercise for one of my favourite forms of Comedy which is the one liner/pun aspect. These also exist in Hip Hop. Lord Finnesse of D.I.T.C  would often throw these into his  lyrics, "I get more ass than a toilet seat" being one of my favourites. Shout out to Will Written on the artwork. Enjoy!!

AVERAGE MAN 2 (THE LOST SCRIPTURES)

This one resurfaced out of the vault in perfect timing. I wrote the verse and chorus in record speed and instantly recorded it. Marty Marts caught the vibe and gave the track a whole new life. He's one to watch out for and I'm super happy I got a time stamp on him coming into my life. Shout out to Amez for bringing this track to my attention again. At times in creating music, you forget about projects and this one came out the oven cooked perfectly.

Poor Homie Quan is an alias/alter ego. His back story is that he has always struggled to pay people back, and one time got his debts down to as low as $50. It's interesting to step outside of my usual genre and write as a another character.

7 NEWS POOR HOMIE QUAN

I decided to change the usual formula on this track. It's 5 pages done straight through and an ironic chorus at the end. Hence "ONE VERSE". 

It's done over an original Zac Lambe instrumental, whose a talent to watch out for in future. The instrumental is chopped and screwed by Nephi The Crow, who also added sound FX's and flavour. It was recorded at Blank Space Studios. I'm super happy with my vocal performance on this and the word play that came from it.

Been sitting on this idea for a while. The inspiration came after going to Wonder Walls which is a graffiti festival and seeing a dad checking out the walls while pushing a pram. Further inspiration comes from the master Marc Rebillet. I was singing the chorus that day and it stuck with me for ages. Shout out to all the Dads staying creative and still getting out there when they can to support the scene. RIP BBOY MOMO.

VOCAL MASTERS BY SUBLIMINAL B.S (SXBS)

The opening track "BLASÉ" which means "indifferent to or bored with life; unimpressed, as or as if from an excess of worldly pleasures" ignites the albums originality. It is a strong taste of what's to come. 

Track 2 "SINAI" is guitar driven and rocks to the core. The vocal sample is well-suited. 

Track 3 "YELLOW TAPES" FT. FRANKIE D is one for the wordsmiths. His lyrics go from 0 to 100 and then he hits cruise-control. Strap in for an amazing beat syncing ride.

Track 4 "HAPPY RETURN" should be a cartoon or movie title intro. The piano to round out the loop tickles the senses in a master stroke. The vocal sample on this brings the beat into a life of it's own.

Track 5 is the title track of the album "SUEZ" and is a musical odyssey of it's own. A strong jazz/swing influence on this one. The vocal samples could not be anymore fitting.

Track 6 "ARABIAN LOUNGE" is smooth on the ears. You could listen to it for 40 days and nights all the while knowing your in an oasis of sound.

Track 7 "CANAL" is a journey down the river of soul. The vocals samples are equally gritty and fitting. This is how you transport spices for trade at the sound market.

Track 8 "ZAC'S TOWN" FT. SUBLIMINAL creeps in like a shadow in the night. His lyrics are chillingly chill. The vocal samples/loops/cuts are beautifully eerie. This track beams out when the sun goes down in Zac's Town. 

Track 9 "SEEDS" shows strong growth of creativity. Just add water in the form of choir vocals for a strong yield.

Track 10 "GOOD NEWS" is a pallet cleanser. A new taste was formed and it's sweet. The vocals play in perfect symphony and lift to a land that was once unseen. Spread the word.

Track 11 "NUISANCE SOUND" is annoyingly brilliant. The drums get the body moving. The keys sound like the gate code to unlock the gates of heaven.

Track 12 "EX07SKELETON" FT. IGGS has a story track vibe. Only he can use a sound effect to complete a bar pattern. His words are rapid firing towards your third eye. An Egyptian infliction of pyramid schemes. 

Track 13 "SOUL" instantly makes you travel back in time to an era we all wanted to exist. The communication from the past has been received. 

Track 14 "RISING CELSIUS" kicks off thinking you have just walked through a 5 star hotel cocktail bar. It is reminiscent of the intro on the 2005 album "BE" by COMMON produced by KAYNE WEST. When the loop unravels it acts as a lure in a super catchy beat.  I was only sent the loop as a teaser to work with and it was amazing to see what ZAC LAMBE did with this. 

Track 15 "CAN'T SLIP" FT. JYE BON grips you from the start. His lyrics are laser sharp with this one and he cements his place in history as a young OG. This is a perfect closer to the album and the finish actually sounds like he has left earth onboard a ship leaving the listener with space to think. 

Much Respect ZAC LAMBE. You had a vision and executed it with a stroke of genius.

ZAC LAMBE-SUEZ "RISING CELSIUS" FT. BBOY APOLO

This is a spoken word recording of a live performance. It's been great to step out of the world of rhyming patterns and take flight with challenging concepts. This was a journalistic story to lure the listener into a funny twist at the end.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

I wanted to record the last piece I performed at the Broadcast Bars current location. The bar and the owner have been a big part of my journey in the last few years from putting on shows to finding my voice in the poetry world. I love the Spoke 'N' Slurred monthly event.  It can only be described as poetry for pirates with Karen and Daniel steering the ship. Big thanks to Paroxysm Press for your guidance and ongoing support.

KOKODA TRACK TOTEMS

This was the piece I performed at the Spring Slam Series In The Hills Heat 1 12/10/24 at the Britannia in Kanmantoo. I see this piece as PSA theme. A call out to Australia. It was fun to add some voice change ups for effect. It was well received with the judges awarding me first place out of a field of 15 competitors, with the top 5 advancing to the final in the coming weeks.

This is the second installment of Poor Homie Quan. He rallied the gang on this one. The idea to do a posse track and get it done quickly was a fun exercise. Everyone went in. Maddog blessed the intro and outro on some mystical poetic deepness and it gave the track a whole new feel and brought it to life. #FREEFERG
