This Fall marks the official 20th Anniversary of Fort Knox Five and to celebrate this milestone, the group reached out to a few of their favorite producers to remix some FK5 classics. First up in this new series is The Allergies remixing the Fort Knox Five hip-hop anthem “Insight” featuring Asheru, and this one is a certified banger!

The Allergies remix is 21st century funky hip-hop on steroids, complete with some retro-heavy guitars, crunchy beats and crashing breaks. This is definitely not some backpacker hip-hop, instead pushing the boundaries of hard funk and beats. The Allergies are best known for reshaping funky vintage sounds for the modern dance floor and they bring all their best bells and whistles to bear on this remix.

The Allergies have delivered a no holds barred funky hip-hop monster and kick off the new series of remixes in style. It is an honor to have such legends flip one of FK5’s tracks, and bring so much new energy and excitement to the song. Asheru said it best in his lyrics - "this is music with a meaning and party with a purpose", and now, The Allergies have funked it up all over again!

Fort Knox Recordings thrives as a melting pot of genres, where Reggae, Funk, Breaks, Latin, House, Downtempo, Trip-Hop, and more find their rightful home. The aptly named "Hacienda Funk" Ep is the Niceguys at their forward thinking best, pushing funk sounds into a new direction all of their own. The levels of musicality are there for all to see, while still retaining all the ingredients required to rock a dance floor. Up first, "That Ass" sounds and feels like the title track of an original 70's movie. Whilst over on the flip, the latin flavours of "Valley Hacienda" would not sound out of place playing for sunset at Cafe Mambo in Ibiza, but still holds on to the funk. Two tracks that shouldn't work together on an ep, but full credit the duo's incredible musical ability, and production skills for merging these two sounds together so perfectly. The Two tracks delivered here will keep those summer vibes hanging on for a while longer. Let the sun shine on!

Founded by Boe Pedersen (Dj BadboE) in Denmark, and now based in Florida. The label originates from the music website Breakbeat Paradise that has been running since 1996. Breakbeat Paradise is dedicated to breakers and electronic musicians within the style of music that we can loosely term as breakbeat. Developing and improving this website over the last 10 years to include everything from visitor music sharing, annual breakbeat contests, samplekits and discussion forum. We felt that going into digital music distribution would be a natural next step.

The music material on the Breakbeat Paradise website has over 1000 pieces of music. Breakbeat Paradise Recordings will  pick up the very best  “cream of the crop”, artists  and tunes and release them as digital downloads through Breakbeat Paradise Recordings  collaborative partners . We found digital distribution would match perfect with our cutting-edge funky breakbeat music and the fastest way from  the streets – to the listener and dancefloor!

With only exclusive vinyl and digital releases , we are always focused on the most important thing for us – the music! 

The music will span from traditional nu funk and funky breaks to more dancefloor oriented ghetto funk,  future funk and big beat as well as hip hop with a glitch and the more mellow side of the drum ‘n’ bass and nu breaks. The sound of Breakbeat Paradise is driven by an emphatic beat that is intended to form a leitmotif between the releases.

Even though releases from Breakbeat Paradise will be coming from different artists, we always uniform a sound by focusing within the genres of breakbeat.  Collaborators and musicians work close together on our label and we are always ensuring a brand of selective “state of the art“, quality and sound .

We will devote ourselves to deliver the phattest, funkiest and the biggest grooves to be found out there...
