A cosmic event so minuscule and rapid that it is unsure as to whether it even occurred at all. This was the precursor to the formation of String Theory. A group and its self titled album comprised of Epidemic's Hex One and Swedish beat maker Boom Bappin' Zombie Darney. Only outside the realms of a structured paradigm can such a happening even begin to be analyzed. So too only under these conditions can it be formed. With concepts ranging from the abstract to the concrete, this anomaly in space time, this rift in the conscious fabric of reality, this naked singularity attempts to answer the basic human question: who are we really? The ambiguity of the universe's many laws is what drives this question, as every soul on this plane is searching for their own personal theory of everything. We ride it's intergalactic currents, weaving between supposed realities and lucid dreams, only to reminisce on how beautiful it all used to be. A graceful marriage between multilayered resonance and the seemingly forgotten art of rap. The inception of this body of work blurs the notion of identifying it as an album, as it is
simply a juncture made possible by infinitely specific circumstances, without which, String Theory would never have existed at all.

If we are a simulation, then in the ways that matter to us... we are real enough.

Can you move the crowd?  You either can, or you can’t… No gimmicks, no glamour and no glitz, no kickstarters--just “Shut Up And Rap”! That’s exactly what Termanology is doing on his new album which will be released on 12-9-14—letting his music do the talking.
 
A lot has changed since Term initially cut his teeth with several highly acclaimed 12" singles, and a debut album, Politics As Usual (2008), that included a MT. Rushmore like array of producers (DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Havoc, Alchemist, Hi-Tek, Buckwild & Nottz) which garnered tons of praise landing him in The Source's "Unsigned Hype" and XXL's "Show and Prove" columns.  Since, he has released a collaborative effort with M.O.P.’s Lil Fame (Fizzyology) and two-projects under the moniker 1982 with his brother from another mother Statik Selektah. In addition, to appearing on BET’s “The Cypha” (with Mike Epps & French Montana), Term has also appeared on BET’s 106th & Park and BET’s “The Backroom” and MTV’s “Rapfix” with Sway and “Mixtape Monday.” However, the one constant throughout has always been Term’s ability to spit.
 
In 2014, Term spent a the majority of his time on the road, touring relentlessly promoting his most recent release(s) 'GOYA' and 'MAS GOYA', in over twenty European countries on the Rap Mayhem Tour which featured Step Brothers Madchild, and DJ Revolution, and recent dates in Japan with DJ Tony Touch.
 
Shut Up And Rap boasts sixteen-tracks and features guest appearances from the legendary INS Deck, M.O.P.’s Lil Fame, Skyzoo, Torae, Slaine, Willie The Kid, DJ Doo Wop and REKS.  Newcomer Billy Loman supplies the majority of the soundscape for Shut Up And Rap, and while the album does include big-name collaborations, Term comments on the subtle, but noticeable shift in how he put Shut Up And Rap together “a big part of this album is breaking new talent.  Their were times in the past I was focused on getting the biggest names on my albums, but this one was less about status and more about dudes who can just plain spit; regardless of their status."

About Day Drunk EP
It’s the return of the non-fiction writer stranded in the made-up world. We last heard from Michigan’s Red Pill on his Mello Music Group debut, this spring’s Look At What This World Did To Us—a savage and sardonic diatribe against the modern condition.
 
In the interim, the former factory machinist turned his psychic bloodletting into a sustainable career. Things finally look up for the self-proclaimed “Leonard Letdown.” He toured the EU with Fashawn and Exile, spent the early fall on a 40 city North American tour with Murs, and forged a profound connection with a fanbase exhausted from the lies told to us by politicians, rappers, and ourselves.
 
Its immediate follow-up—the Day Drunk EP—offers a requisite counterbalance to the poison-tipped bleakness of its predecessor. If LAWTWDTU was the rap equivalent of Charles Bukowski’s Ham on Rye, the Day Drunk EP is closer to Notes From a Dirty Old Man. It’s slightly lighter and more playful, stocked with slick talk, wry one-liners, and enough liquor to drown even the most debauched barfly.
 
With production from Oddisee, Exile, Paul White, and Red Pill himself, the beats offer an almost psychedelic slant that blend seamlessly with Pill’s artful complaints. Whereas the last record seemed to sink into a permanent midnight of the soul, this one attempts to reconcile the inequities of life with our own ineluctable realities.
 
The first song, “What You Wish For,” finds Pill half-jokingly offering the advice to give up on work in favor of the 24-hour party. It’s not necessarily a call to hedonism, but rather a way to remind people to wake up from fugue states filled with false religion and Internet pseudo-wisdom.
 
There’s the greasy guitars and hard drums of “90s Money,” a sly love letter towards a vanished world. Pill calls himself a “loser like a Beck record,” a “fat Jesse Einsenberg"  a loose cannon drinking whiskey with two hands, listening to Bitches Brew, eating chicken vindaloo. That’s just in the first minute.
 
Despite the brighter beats and attempt to find levity in our woes, there’s still the searing fear and loathing that makes Pill so compelling. He compares himself to an unloaded gun, maligns the world that’s got him by the throat. He confesses his myriad anxieties, depression, and desire to write a happy song. Only Earl Sweatshirt can match Red Pill at their mutual ability to celebrate the isolated joy of never wanting to leave the house.
 
Maybe it’s the EP’s finale and title track that captures the contradictions at the heart of the music. It’s a eulogy to the summertime, a drinking song undercut by premonitions of doom, a reminder for us not to waste the days until our funeral—a toast to day drinking to forget our own collective pain.
