Oscillating between soft cute melodies and epic EDM kicks, his contrasting music appeared on compilations by BCAAsystem, Unizone, Soft or Swine World. The present EP released on BCAAsystem is a sensitive conceptual walk through the buzzing of distorted space-time, an uncanny landscape that’s always there yet beyond our grasp.

Emma Dowdy is one of the many faces of Belgian producer, DJ and visual artist Gaspard Hers, also commonly known as DJ Würm. The sharp-cutting and yet fragile tones of the Bilirubyn EP sing to us about a radical shattering of the very borders of our known bodily reality, taking us on a journey deep inside a shadow forest. And just when we may be tempted to think that we can’t stumble any deeper, that we've gone as far as one can, the rusty beats pull us ever further, into the limitless core, where little creatures spin the threads of darkness into erupting, golden beams of light. Their melody then twists our arms into yellow ribbons, our blood mingling with theirs, pouring into shiny streams like water seeping through our own pointed teeth. Lost in the furry basses, no names remain to be called.

Emma Dowdy - BILIRUBYN

AWOO is a new audiovisual project by two members of Prague’s BCAAsystem collective Bilej Kluk & RealityCongress, co-produced with musician Oliver Torr.

In a creative reimagining of Bilej Kluk’s persona into the new character and identity of AWOO, the album follows Bilej Kluk’s split into another dimension and the body of a digital avatar. The story’s principle plotline is his pursuit to reunify this virtual consciousness with his true body, and return to his original reality.

But the journey back is complicated, leading through numerous layers and worlds, where radically different physical laws, ecological systems, and biological beings exist. During his journey the avatar gains new perspectives and experiences, which — despite their origin being from alien realities — could prove useful for us in our own reality.

The sound of ‘AWOO’ reprises more than Bilej Kluk’s identity, but his sound as a musician: the foggy and translucent ‘cloud rap’ the artist gathered his following through is stretched taut, spiked with Oliver Torr’s trademark hyper-real sound design, and sprawls across a battalion of genre influences throughout the album’s 10 tracks and 5 skits.

From injecting the driving flow of ‘deadbeat’ with gloomy grime-synths and shredded vocal chord screams, or the heavy hand on the sampler of rugged ‘spezial’, Torr and AWOO’s co-production is ruthlessly disparate, but adeptly subsumes trance, hyperpop, trap, metal subgenres and numerous club musics into a glycerine-gleam whole.

‘AWOO’ is released in a hybrid format that harmonises the audio with visual narratives as vivid as the music itself: three extended CGI music videos and complementary Instagram reels built in Unreal Engine 5 by BCAAstudio (RealityCongress and Michal Plodek) tell the full story of AWOO, providing further narration and enhancing the world-building of AWOO’s environment.

The project’s video art comprises multiple techniques and modern digital capture tools, from the character creation made in the new Metahuman software to the live-action motion capture recorded using the Perception Neuron suite. Custom clothes for AWOO were created in Marvellous Designer, models created in Blender, and textures made using Substance Painter. Additional materials and models used from Quixel libraries.

BCAAstudio is part of BCAAsystem collective - focused and open for commision projects created with technologies such as motion capture, realtime engines and 3D softwares. It is a small studio oriented on providing personal creative solutions for various projects, as well as developing its own.

BCAAsystem is a polyfunctional collective existing on the frontiers of contemporary alternative music, art and theory. Our projects flow through categories: we are an art group, a music label, an AV studio and a DJ crew — and anything else we can or need to become. We operate irl and online; we fill and share space. Petr Bursa is a waxing moon in the Prague experimental electronic scene. His debut EP Heart's Halo lures the listener into an eerie, fog-cloaked landscape, drawing us with a siren-like spell, a beckoning from the sonorous darkness that brings a momentary bewilderment only to wash it away in rushes of tenderness and awe. An ephemeral, yet pressing whisper guides the listener through a liminal journey into the whirl of dizzyingly looped synthesizers, erupting into vocals as tempestuous as frail. The image of being swallowed by mists and swayed by stormy seas is not a mere poetic association, but comprises the very core of Bursa's synaesthetic imaginary. It is an image both frightening and familiar, as universal as it is intimate, expressing sharply the intense reality of a windswept present that feels increasingly impossible to navigate. Bursa’s debut offers us a frosty, melodic consolation that the hardships of self-discovery are shared, and that while the planes of waves appear endless, we never sail them alone.

“There once was a plentiful land – or perhaps, it is yet to be – populated with diverse creatures and organisms, mutually nurturing the common web underneath, inside or above them. But balance is always illusory. Things started to change. As if a slinky shadow was cast upon the hills, moors and valleys of the whole wide world. The winds grew stronger, the plants languished, the droughts dried the rivers into frayed, vanishing blue ribbons. All the tissues, structures and substances shivered. Everyone felt it differently, but yet the same. Something was on the move…”


The 2nd BCAA system compilation emerged in a soft, entangled process – it is a release on its own, an itinerary of local friends, but also a soundtrack and a source of a new BCAA audiovisual tale. The creatures, feelings and landscapes who fill it with sounds and images were born through a special deck of fantasy cards shaped by collective talking about pains and wishes – the most personal, the global, the planetary or those the future-stars might have the moment before the fusion. Thanks to everyone who helped us to breathe life into this one. <3

MARTYYNA ( https://soundcloud.com/martyyna-1 ) is a Prague born & based producer and DJ, she's also a co-founder of a regular KSK club night and a member of a DJ collective Blazing Bullets.

She already released tracks on Eco Futurism Corporation, Unizone or BCAA system labels and made remixes for jjjacob (ANBA) or Ethno Service (Unizone). Beside the original work with sounds of traditional string instruments like guzheng or erhu, she newly added her own vocals to the production where it slowly takes a leading part in the process. AWAKEN is her debut EP.

Her musical approach is largely experimental and works with honestly admitted chaos, positively welcomed coincidence and deconstruction of traditional asian instruments. This strategy is rooted both in her everyday life and the professional one - her second home is Taiwan and asian regions in general, where she researches into a so called illegal and informal architecture. This brings interesting tension to her creative output: working as an architect in her daily life, where order is the rule and emotions have to go aside, and on the opposite of that a strong interest in re-deconstruction and breathing organic structures where life emerges freely upon any given restraints.

First track – urgent sounding Thorn of Joy is about realizing that painful things and events in your life can bring you an eye-opening awareness and new insights not just about the world itself but mainly about yourself. That is also the main theme of the whole release named after the leading track Awaken. It speaks for itself – overcoming the pain and waking up to consciousness thanks to uneasy life situations, sorrow or toxic relationships. It is also about cracking that visible hard shell, opening up and letting vulnerability and emotions come out without apology. And about cutting the bullshit as well. Tracks Moth Sabbath and Midnight Guards combine powerful anime-like atmospheres and inventive work with arythmical percussive arrangements while the closing track Tongue Untied speaks its fragile yet powerful truth with the lyrics: “I don't know why it's just about u, I am here, I am here too...”.
When you allow yourself to live your truth and also speak it without fear, then comes the liberating awareness that what doesn't kill you will actually make you stronger.

The multilayered, yet carefully designed soundscape in which Bilej kluk embeds his heavily autotuned voice should alert you before you would label him as just another Drainer. Although the vocal sometimes shows off vulnerabilities that may seem familiar to emo-rap worshippers, the vector space in which bilej kluk belongs is the psychedelic songwriting of underground ATLien Black kray, the hallucinatory legacy of Glo gang or the contemporary wave of the German-Turkish trap. Bilej kluk, a prolific producer and audiovisual auteur, is a member of Prague’s own BCAA system - a platform and a hybrid club/art collective, so the euphoric trance synths throbbing from underneath come as no suprise.

Europa is a moniker of a German-born, Paris-based but World-souled artist and musician Moritz Haas. After engaging in music making for quite some time, he describes his recent work as being created lightweightly, on the go, often just with a laptop on his legs, rushing from one place to another. The present EP seethes with this ever-transforming fiery energy, fulfilling Europa's own words: “ I guess I've always been trying to hunt after that hybrid moment of blissful rave and melodrama. Maybe something I lost somewhere on the way and try to keep burning.”
