Currently celebrating one hundred releases with a set of EPs from label bosses Drumsound and Bassline Smith themselves, Technique Recordings has established itself as one of the finest labels in the drum and bass scene over the past decade. Scene legends like Roni Size, J Magik & Wickaman, Friction, DJ SS, Twisted Individual, Crissy Criss, Tantrum Desire, ShockOne and
Youngman have all graced this imprint, and you’ll consistently find the Technique name at the top of genre charts and smashing clubs worldwide. It’s no surprise that this label has assembled a sufficiently heavyweight back catalogue to fill a forty-three track LP with remastered classics and exclusive VIP selections.
Time for a Retrospective.
This album takes you in every direction, covering all wavelengths of the drum and bass spectrum. Drumsound and Bassline Smith, along with their alter-ego 2DB, provide an extensive selection of the tracklisting, backed up by their label’s current international soldiers and a selection of those heavy-hitters who’ve graced the imprint over the years.
So, in the midst of the bombardment from the label bosses, Tantrum Desire pop up with their big-room killers, Crissy Criss & Youngman drop in to grime things up a touch, and Dub Foundation flip things into half-step style. And, to show this is a truly worldwide movement, there are contributions from Ukraine’s MaxNRG, Slovakia’s L Plus, and a couple of combos hailing from down under, Skyver & D Jon and Spectrem & Spillage.
All this and choice cuts from Roni Size, DJ SS, Twisted Individual, Digital, J Majik & Wickaman, plus an appearance from TeeBee on remix duties. No wonder the Technique brand continues to raise its status.
Over the years, and their hundred releases, Drumsound and Bassline Smith’s Technique Recordings have proven themselves to be a monumental institution in the drum and bass scene. Every one of these tracks has graced raves and airwaves worldwide, and while this Retrospective is looking back at the classics, it also promises big things for the next Technique century.

Hailing from Wales in the UK, BMotion is one of Viper Recordings’ freshest and most eclectic talents. Signing exclusively to the label in 2014 and dropping his debut single ‘Feelings / Something, Something’ on sister label Viper VIP to huge success, the talented young producer has already gained momentous support from the likes of TC, Cyantific, Sub Focus, Matrix & Futurebound, Crissy Criss, Danny Byrd, Metrik, Netsky and many more.

Over the last two years, BMotion has become a respected name in the industry and has consistently brought the heat with releases such as the Beatport chart topping ‘Bear Hug / Vice City’ and ‘Arabia / Ignition’ in 2015. Alongside compilation features including ‘Discotheque’ with Chords on Decade of Viper and the huge ‘Tekken’ on Viper Presents: Summer Slammers 2016, BMotion has also proved his remixing skills with his spin on Brookes Brothers feat. Majesty’s ‘Good To Me’ – which featured on Viper Presents: Bassrush 1.0 alongside the well-received ‘Ignition’.

Eutopia kicks off BMotion’s new single with a distinctly retro, jazz-fueled intro. Twisting and turning through a range of distorted synths and progressive drums, the track quickly picks up pace before catapulting into a hard-hitting drop packed with fierce stabs and snares. Splicing together an explosive mix of funky retro and a heavy, rolling bassline, the producer impresses from the get-go with this turbo charged opening tune.

On the flip side, Release Valve opens up on a more chilled vibe. Starting off by incorporating an electric guitar into an echoing build-up, the track is then instantly transformed as a powerful, gritty bassline takes over the moment the drop hits. Bringing some next-level energy and aiming straight for the center of the dancefloor, this killer tune packs some serious ferocity.

Showcasing yet more faultless production and bringing to the table undoubtedly two of the biggest Drum and Bass tracks to hit dancefloors this autumn, BMotion is wasting no time in setting himself apart from the competition.

Towering above them, the planetary shards of the blast site splayed open like broken petals, vast in scale and overwhelming in the destruction they represented. They looked on in quiet awe as the now separated segment of the planet spun on the edge of the gravity horizon, the last remnants of atmosphere clinging to its rugged shape tenuously. The weapon had been more effective than they could have ever imagined, this was a beginning – the promise of their fate in the ruins of this freshly broken planet.

A pair of legendary Bulgarian producers unite, with COOH & L 33 bringing their full array of audio manipulation weaponry to bear in the creation of BROKEN and POWER SOURCE. Drawing on the rich history of both artists’ sounds, the outcome is a set of tracks that deliver both fearsome sonics and an intense dose of funk, wound in a deeply futuristic sensibility. OTHERCIDE RECORDS delivers once again, proving itself to be the dynamic label animal that fans of a specific cross section of drum and bass can really get their teeth into right now.
