Onestar Records caps off a successful year with a new EP from label bosses Suntech and Jhonny LP. Whether working in tandem or in solo capacity, the Colombian duo have been two of their country's premiere progressive house talents. The Medellín residents continue to find favour with the genre's premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also branching out for releases via Clubsonica Records, Future Avenue and Mango Alley. Now returning to their comfortable home of Onestar for the first time in two and a half years, Suntech & Johnny LP present their much anticipated 'Hamelin Loop' EP, alongside remixes from Jonnas B and Marcelo Vasami.

The release begins with the title and showcase piece 'Hamelin Loop', a track which Suntech and Jhonny wrote to vent their frustrations over the current political climate in their country. As somewhat of a departure for the normally progressive minded duo, 'Hamelin Loop' stands out for its muscular, old school flavored breakbeats, fiery acid lines and thunderous percussive arrangements. A soulful lead theme borders on the exotic as chanting vocal stabs and organic drums unite across the break, perfectly setting the stage for a sizzling finale. Meanwhile, 'El Sars' moves back into progressive territory and aims at a main room dance floor with Its pulsating groove, rhythmic waves and colourful effects. Pixie-like melodies advance narrative, moving through unpredictable patterns, while adding depth and emotion leading into the main break. Moving from trippy modulation to cosmic creativities, the interlude not only shifts mood but builds tension towards a thumping drop and driving finale.

The release concludes in fine fashion with Marcelo Vasami making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'El Sars'. First emerging in 2005, the Buenos Aires resident quickly became one of the progressive scene's most recognizable names, showcasing his music on Sudbeat, Replug and Hope Recordings. Now with a career that spans the better part of two decades, Marcelo continues to be one of his country's most popular DJs, having shared the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc. Now coming off a collaborative remix with Hernan Cattaneo, Marcelo makes his debut on Onestar with a powerful take on 'El Sars'. A perfect balance of warmth and drive provides the foundation for fluid rhythms, poignant hooks and cosmic effects. Trippier and more stripped down than the original, it's glassy arps and ghostly refrains highlight the first act, and make for a smooth transition into the main break. Expertly executed, the interlude captivates with its tastefully tense modulation, as the groove drops, and astral aesthetics rise for an epic conclusion. An inspired remix from Marcelo once again which caps off a must have EP from Suntech and Jhonny LP, a duo who make a triumphant return to Onestar Records to round out the year.

The latest offering from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint finds the label presenting new interpretations of Nopi's ‘Hookan Idyll'. Originally released in October of 2020 as part of the Ukrainian's well-received ‘Where to Go' EP, it's deeper design and hopeful atmospheres charmed DJs and fans alike, proving once again what an exceptional talent Nopi has become. Now bringing new life to the much-loved track, Sound Avenue invites Forty Cats, Meeting Molly and Pedro Capelossi to re-imagine the production for 2022.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of ‘Hookan Idyll' is Forty Cats. With well over a decade's worth of DJ experience, Russian artist Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has been a fixture of her country's nightlife, sharing the stage with Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Yotto, Dave Seaman and more. Christina's production debut landed three years ago via 8bit Music, and in relatively short order the Russian artist has gone on to release projects via Lane 8's This Never Happened, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Juicebox Music and Mango Alley. Having made her Sound Avenue debut in January with a well-received remix of Eric Lune's ‘Dreaming Home', Forty Cats now makes a welcome return with an equally stunning take on ‘Hookan Idyll'. Smooth and rhythmic throughout, the Russian artist goes deep and driving for what results in a hypnotic eight-minute journey. Meditative lines, gentle tonal themes and intoxicating atmospheres unite across the first act, perfectly setting up an effects-laden break. Acid-like lines and ghostly vocal fragments emerge as the centrepiece evolves, adding a trippy flair as the narrative builds onwards to a thumping drop and colourful finale.

Agnosia Black continues a strong start to the year with a new single from label boss DJ Choopie and Golan Zocher. The former, based in Israel, lays claim to over two decades of production work and releases via long-standing imprints such as Bedrock and Yoshitoshi. Meanwhile, Colombian born, Israel based artist Golan Zocher has enjoyed similar success across his five-year career, landing releases via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Beatfreak and Clubsonica Records. Having begun the year with the well-received 'Fine Twist' single and a contribution to the Sol Selectas 'Global Entry 3' collection, Choopie and Golan unite once again for a new single entitled 'Pinko', alongside a remix from Analog Jungs.

In what continues to be a fruitful partnership, Choopie and Golan aim squarely at a peak time dance floor with ‘Pinko’. Warm beats and a full, pulsating groove set the foundation for a narrative of lively arps and driving percussion. Pushing a dramatic narrative, buzzing synth lines blanket the charged groove leading into a timely break, building tension with each pass before eventually giving way to flurries of claps as thunderous beats drop for an exhilarating finale.

The release concludes with Analog Jungs making their label debut and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Pinko’. Based in Cordoba, the Argentinean duo have been one of the progressive scene’s most inspiring acts in recent years. Support from John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren along with releases via Hope Recordings, Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden have all been sensational. Having vaulted into Beatport’s Top 10 progressive house artists across 2021, Analog Jungs rides that momentum into the new year with a powerful rendition of ‘Pinko’. Opting for a more stripped back approach, the Argentinean duo focuses on a strong effects narrative in conjunction with meditative drive, resulting in a great complement to the boisterous original. Smooth and energetic in all the right ways, crunchy rhythms and spiralling arps resonate against a backdrop of blustery sonics, before a timely break offers a moment of calm leading into an epic conclusion. An inspired remix from Analog Jungs which caps off an excellent offering from Choopie’s Agnosia Black, a label who has certainly gotten 2022 off to a great start. Highly recommended.

Andrés Moris is a DJ / Producer from the province of Córdoba. He started his career at the age of 16 as a DJ, setting up his base and identity in electronic music. After several years of playing music, he shared the booth with greats from the local scene, such as Matthias Popoff, Ariel Zurita, Nicolas Gonzalez, Belu Amarfil, Cami Lipski, Sol Vietto, Berni Turletti, Matias Chilano, Jime Ferreyra, Sebastian Sellares, among others. Having the majority of Main dates, he wanted to delve further into the world of electronics and take his first steps as a self-taught producer. Today he has releases on labels such as, Balkan Connection, Or Two Strangers, Movement Recordings, 3rd Avenue and still there's more to come.

Inspired since he was little by music in general, his sound goes from a progressive with vibes of joy to a range of genres on the mixes, going through all of them and appreciating the music of each one. At 22 years old, he is already on the way to continue doing it all his life inspired by his national and international references. Taking Guy J as the main reference, inspiration never ceases to be present.

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White opens the summer season by welcoming Shanil Alox to the label for his debut single. Hailing from the electronic music mecca of Sri Lanka, Shanil Alox first emerged in 2017 and was quickly applauded for his groovy progressive sound. Praised by the genre's tastemakers and fans alike, the next half decade saw the Colombo resident showcase his music via Droid9, Nature Rec, SLC-6 Music and more. Continuing on an upwards trajectory, Shanil now adds Dopamine White to his resume with 'I'm Too Weird', alongside remixes from NOIYSE PROJECT and Hobin Rude. 

Destined to be a highlight in Shanil's discography, it is the atmospheric stylings of the original mix which get the release underway. Rhythmically charged from the outset, its undulating cadence, striking percussion and character rich groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Meandering atmospheres and sweeping effects rise across the first act, carrying momentum and mood into the main break. Panning chord stabs and indistinct vocals delight across the centrepiece, creating a moment of calm, as a classy crescendo of effects spark a tasteful drop and groove-centric finale. 

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'I'm Too Weird' is NOIYSE PROJECT. Rising out of Sri Lanka's progressive house scene, NOIYSE PROJECT took inspiration from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren to become one of the genre's most sought after artists. Releases via The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music sit as discography highlights across the last two calendar years, while he has continued to delight fans with his impeccable taste and programming skills as a DJ. Moving forward, 2022 has proven to be a breakout year for the Colombo resident. On the strength of projects for his Till The Sunrise imprint, NOIYSE PROJECT has risen to Beatport's #3 best-selling progressive house hype producer, paving the way for what promises to be an even brighter future. Now as 2022 nears its third quarter, NOIYSE PROJECT returns to Dopamine White with a stellar remix of 'I'm Too Weird'. Taking a cue from the Original, the Sri Lankan artist carves out a dynamic groove adorned with detailed percussive arrangements, enlightening textures and rolling rhythmic themes. His progressive sounds quickly found favour with the genre's tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, eventually leading to forthcoming projects via The Soundgarden and Plattenbank. Now on the strength of a contribution to Sound Avenue's popular 'Correlation' series, the Belgrade resident adds Dopamine White to his portfolio with an emotive take on 'I'm Too Weird'. Engaging from the outset, warm beats and undulating pulses converge for a sultry foundation, while crisp percussion and aquatic stabs bring rhythm and texture to the groove. Searching for a deeper emotion as the main break takes shape, Hobin juxtaposes melancholic chord changes with evolving atmospheres for transcendent moments, while his perfectly sculpted groove returns amidst a rush of drums, to translate that message to the dance floor. Namatjira's Moons of Yesterday story continues with yet another great addition of fresh remixes. This time it's an all Dutch affair as Callecat and Paul Hazendonk step up to the plate to show their remix abilities.

Callecat kick things off with their interpretation for 'Solenodon'. The result is simply breathtaking, as they've managed to incorporate the trademark violin melody to maximum effect. Lovely emotions throughout this one and again proof why these guys are one of the fastest rising names in progressive house at the moment.

The second rework comes from Manual Music head honcho Paul Hazendonk who flips 'Bradycardie' - one of the albums signature tracks - into a proper peak time dancefloor weapon which balances nicely between the progressive and melodic house genres. A track that properly builds up the tension towards a big emotive outburst.
