The Dreamscribe

The first light of dawn only glimmers on the edge of the cloud city when the Dreamscribe awakens. He does not dream he writes dreams for others. In a world where people have long forgotten how to dream, they now seek hope among memories woven by artificial hands. He works on commission,lost loves, childhood summers, peaceful shores each dream a private refuge.

It wasn’t always this way. Once, he too dreamed wild, untamed visions that no one else could understand. As a child, he would stare at the sky for hours, or watch the dance of dust motes swirling in the room, and they never understood what he saw in them. They could not know that even then, he listened to a different rhythm: to heartbeats, to silenced sighs, to those faint melodies others never hear.

He did not learn from machines he works from memory, and from that strange gift that lets him hear, in another’s heartbeat, what they truly long for. He did not choose this role the dreams chose him. His craft is not technology, but a tender art. He works with slowed time, with heartbeat and light. He does not merely write stories he offers solace, understanding, and quiet nights.

The Dreamscribe is a lonely soul, yet every night, millions fall asleep to his words. And though he never meets his clients, he always remembers them. Fragments of their dreams live on within him, like soft, echoing melodies that never quite fade away.
