In 2014 Bear Cat went on a long hiatus when Daniel moved to Naarm, Melbourne, Australia and
Josie relocated to Te Waiharakeke, Blenheim in Aotearoa’s South Island. A decade later and thanks to the magic of the internet, 2024’s A Spooky Situation was recorded in their respective bedrooms across the Tasman, with additional instrumentation, mixing and
production via Mark David Perkins (MERK) in Los Angeles, USA, and released on Halloween.

Their music video for A Spooky Situation followed shortly after, again filmed across both
locations. The band still lives on opposite sides of the ocean, so much like the characters in the
music video, this little band is not quite alive again, but back from the dead for today at least.
