Big momma Man was a sweet character, like one of the models from the Home Shopping Network in a bygone era, over-the-top hairspray, perm and all. Indeed, these salt o' the earth folk can hardly be blamed for The Bearded Man’s awesomeness. Amicable though they were, they certainly didn’t exhibit the spark of brilliance that makes The Bearded Man who he is.

A lot of people think Nick Offerman is a pretty cool dude. And for good reason. With his mustachioed face, his penchant for building hand-made canoes instead of paying money, and so on and so forth. Yes, Mr. Offerman is pretty damn cool. But we seldom ask ourselves, where did he LEARN his awesomeness from? You didn’t think he came up with that stuff on his own, did you? Please. Many years ago, a small Minooka boy nearly drowned in the Des Plaines river after swimming too far out from shore. A certain Bearded Gentleman happened to be paddling by in a canoe of his own, seeking safe passage to Lake Michigan through which he would ultimately head towards fur-trapping relatives in Canada. The Bearded Man plucked the drowning boy from the frigid waters and paddled him to shore. He would spend the next day teaching a young Nick how to make his own canoes so he’d never be in the same situation again. He gave his boat to the young Offerman then and there, and legend has it that *that’s* when Nick sprouted his very first mustache hair. The Bearded Man swam the rest of the way sans boat, ultimately meeting his friends Sebastien and Hagedorn in the wintry north.

Never one to walk away from a friend in need, he immediately rushed to the aid of said kingdom, confronting the foul creatures with his unprecedented courage and valor, while pushing them back to the depths of hell they had arisen from. Showing the gratitude The Bearded Man deserved, the king awarded him with a badge of honor, to commemorate the bravest of gestures: aiding the people that truly deserve it.

Did The Bearded Man ever tell you about the Richest Man in Babylon? The Bearded Man's path has never been one of 'get rich slowly', rather, it's been 'live fast and die hard'. To the rest of the world, it looked like our hero was wasting his time while everyone else was making progress toiling in the salt mines. Friends and family scoffed at his lack of a dental plan, but he knew better - he kept chipping away at that song. When the song was finally complete, he played it for a free-spirited girl who understood the magic of his way of thinking. Needless to say, the song worked gangbusters, and the girl fell for him head over heels. Now, without a single gray hair on his beard, The Bearded Man drives a Ferrari while all the other suckers beg their bosses for an extra 5 minutes of lunch. For many years of his life, The Bearded Man was lazy, lethargic, and generally a no good piece of s#!t. After all, wasn’t this the same god-like mortal that the deities of old bent over backwards for? Well, we learned recently that this dark period in his life wasn’t altogether his fault after all. You see, evil scientist Dr. Archibald Bucephalus (and arch-nemesis of The Bearded Man) was up to his old tricks. Having discovered nanotechnology hundreds of years before the rest of the world knew it existed, he was the first to create nano robots. He slipped these nano robots into The Bearded Man’s unguarded coconut half one day by the pool, and the little critters got to work. The little things they did started to sabotage his brain. First they changed his hormone levels, messing with serotonin, screwing with his brain’s natural reward mechanism, and generally taking away his lust for life. Dr. Archibald Bucephalus is a sneaky old trickster, and his evil might have never been discovered if it weren’t for an accident years down the road. Exposed to an enormous electromagnetic blast (which also coincidentally briefly gave The Bearded Man super powers), the robots were destroyed. Slowly but surely, everything got better, and now, TBM is a world-class pimp. Now he’s high on life!

This goes way beyond the popular film Animal House. If anything, bro culture has only expanded and grown tremendously since then. The Bearded Man thought he’d give bro life a try one weekend in search of a good time. All around him he saw what appeared to be male human beings, but these were no ordinary human beings… They were yelling, grunting, and generally making a LOT of noise, none of which was in English or any other discernible world tongue. They were clearly pumped up for SOMEthing, but what? He couldn’t say. Scoping out the situation from the safety of a pool chair, The Bearded Man asked some of the nearby girls if they fully understood the meaning of the term “bro out”. They said they didn’t, but they all agreed that everyone could recognize it when they saw it. Moments later, the president of the fraternity came over to The Bearded Man, and spotting someone who clearly didn’t belong, he asked: “Are you looking for someone here brah??” A handful of his cronies began to surround TBM. Things were looking pretty bad for our hero, when suddenly, he had a realization. “Wait a minute, who cares about bros? I came here for the ladies.” With that, he imitated Dr. Dre and said “F*** frats, you can have ‘em back!” And he dropped the mic and walked out with 6 of the finest females around.

The year was 1979 The Bearded Man dusted the powdered sugar off his face (from eating a donut, of course), and brought his bell-bottomed a$$ and platform shoes straight to the dance floor. The hours dripped away, and we’re pretty sure that a live alpaca walked in at some point, but then again, who knows… This was pushing the limit at its finest, this was gonzo dancing. The funk was strong in the steamy room, and the vibes were distinctly sexual. Things got weird. Things got intense. But then again, it was the 70s, so what more can you say? More myth than reality you might think, but you’d be wrong!

In 1997, the king of pop, the legend himself, the one and only Mr. Michael Jackson took the stage in Munich, Germany. After a heart-wrenching speech in which he profusely thanked the crew, his band, the people who made the show possible, and of course, his legions of adoring fans, he launched into one of his old-timey crowd-favorite songs. Truly, it was a tear-jerking experience for any real Jacksonian in the crowd. Despite not having some of the fancy, hi-tech light shows and 3D LED walls that we have today, no one can deny that this was one hell of a production. Tens of thousands of screaming fans were treated to the performance of a lifetime, and a moment that they’ll surely never forget. But between the extended speech and his modern rendition of The Jackson 5 classic “I Want You Back”, something else happened that not many people can recall… Sir Jackson broke his speech mid-sentence. There was a teeny tiny little bug on stage next to his feet. Not knowing what to do, Michael yelled a phrase that he’d shouted countless times since he was a small boy — “SECURITY!” He had a security guard come onto the stage to pick up the bug and remove it, making sure that it wouldn’t accidentally get stepped on and killed during one of the many moonwalks or spins that would follow. The security guard picked up the tiny bug, and escorted it off stage. That little bug was The Bearded Man. Michael Jackson saved his life that day, and for a few minutes, The Bearded Man got to stand on stage next to him in front of 100,000 fans. That’s just the kind of guy Michael was, and our hero thanks him for it!

The corset of one of the girls was killing her. Still, she waited in the sweltering summer heat for what would surely be the battle of the century. Everyone was present in the audience, from foppish dandies to blue-blooded royalty. All were eagerly awaiting the battle that would once and for all settle who was the greatest DJ (or “composer” as they used to call them back in the day) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or The Bearded Adiemus Man. Mozart was a young whizkid, kind of like Avicii let’s say. The Bearded Man was scruffy, but he knew his way around a powdered wig. Mozart went first. He played with a fury of pop melodies so catchy Max Martin would have screamed in approval. It was obviously a labour of love of the most magnificent kind. After thunderous applause, it was now The Bearded Man’s turn. He couldn’t play a single instrument, it was true. But he started his set by blasting some confetti cannons onto the crowd, followed by a couple free t-shirts, and then he stage dove onto the front row of groupies. Before he jumped, he warned them with a yell, saying “1,2,3 JUMP!” The Bearded Man didn’t play any music at all, but damn, his stage presence was IN*SANE* BRO!!! The ladies went nuts, and let’s just say that more than a few petticoats hit the floor that night. The Bearded Man: 1, Mozart: 0. And don’t you ever forget it!

The Bearded Man has the unique ability to travel through time, more or less at will, or at the very least, when it’s convenient for him to escape a boring dinner party. In 1851, he broke bread with Captain Ahab, calling himself Ishmael for some unknown reason. He went on that fateful quest to find Moby Dick, which coincidentally made for a *hilarious* story decades later when The Bearded Man and Richard Melville Hall (better known by his stage name “Moby”) had drinks on the rooftop of his NYC apartment. The artist Moby asked a lot of questions about Moby Dick, and in turn, The Bearded Man asked a lot of questions about Vera Hall. Both were fascinated by these legendary figures from the past. Moby had never met Vera Hall, but he felt they shared an unspoken bond. For his part, The Bearded Man recalled Alabama in the early 1900s. He had heard of Ms. Hall, but had never met her. Androma was actually alive at the time, so the pair telephoned him to find out more about the famous songwriter. Androma knew some things about her, but not as much as Boy Kiss Girl. So they all had a massive tele-conference to get to the bottom of “the real story". In the end, they troubled hard indeed to come up with this song. The Bearded Man frequently travels to 2016 just to hear it whenever he needs a reminder of what soulful music is supposed to sound like!

"Push and turn and step and turn and pivot and turn and step and step…" Things were heating up. It was the middle of Richard Simmons’ ‘Party Off The Pounds’ competition, and The Bearded Man was hot on the heels of Davis McGraw, reigning local champ. For the first time in his calisthenics career, he had come across someone with as thick of a beard as his own. This wasn’t going to be easy. He had breezed through the semis against a bunch of non-bearded losers, but this guy? His beard had the goods. Facial hair was flying every which way as the two blasted their glutes to the sounds of TRU Concept and PYT. Sweat poured down the faces of the two gentlemen. To be clear, these men were NOT in good shape. Nor were they particularly physically attractive. Still, they danced with such fire and fury that women of all ages swooned with delight. For the first time ever, the championship was declared a draw. One judge said that he had such a hard time choosing, that this battle would forever be called “The Miracle in the Middle of His Heart.” And so that epic moment was dubbed once and for all.

Of all the time periods he’s been through, the 1980s has to be the weirdest time The Bearded Man has ever experienced. From TAB to the New Coke, to all the Wall Street execs perpetually cracked out in search of their next high-pressure million, you can’t deny that the 80s was pretty weird. “I can’t believe we let this happen,” The Bearded Man thought as he watched yet another rerun of The Price Is Right. “Someday, we’re gonna pay for this” he mused. Despite all of the many, many, many shortcomings of the 80s, The Bearded Man looks back fondly on the time when all it took to be happy was a large cheese pizza and enough quarters to hit the arcade. Sure, those days may be gone, but the legacy lives on… Televisor and River remember, but the Sound Of Love is truly a step up from most of the music that *actually* came out of that god-forsaken dark age. Remember when Rick Astley *wasn’t* a joke?

The Bearded Man has spent many an evening in love. Many a nightcap. Many a late night stroll in love. Many a lazy afternoon. But mornings? Not so much. Somehow the morning usually seems to have that sobering effect of making us look back on the previous day’s decisions with a hint of regret. Our hero is not too proud to admit that he’s snuck his way out of more than a few awkward situations early in the morning around dawn. But, you know what they say, “Judge not lest ye be judged!” and so forth. Still, there’s one thing The Bearded Man DOES love each and every morning, no matter where he’s returning from, no matter where he’s heading. The crisp morning air as his beard flies in the wind on his trusty motorcycle is just about all he needs. Now that’s true love right there, and if anyone gets it, it’s fellow compadre Kiso.

“Where did we go wrong?” The Bearded Man asked. “Hey I thought we had it all!” He continued. He was, of course, referring to the money. The money that he and Sebastien were *supposed* to have stolen from the bank just now. “Ok, let’s just retrace our steps,” Bright Sparks chimed in. “So first, we robbed the bank. Right?” “Right.” All three of them agreed on that. “Ok,” Bright Sparks went on, “So we robbed the bank. Check. We got the money. Check. We… DAMNIT! WE LEFT THE MONEY DIDN’T WE?” Not the world’s greatest heist, and certainly nothing worthy of Ocean’s 18, or whatever movie they’re on now. But, to give credit where credit is due, banks had *just* been invented the previous year, so they were pretty much the new trend of the moment, kind of like techno is now. No one really knew what they were supposed to do with these banks, or how to run them, or what “protocol” was. Security was low, and forensic scientists didn’t yet exist, so the three would-be thieves got away with it completely. They may not have gotten the money that day, but the *real* reward was the journey shared amongst friends. Ok, not really. The real reward would have been the gold. They screwed up. Bad.

Not long ago, a somewhat lackluster Olympic games saw a brief window of non-boringness when one of the greatest champions of all time made history. The charismatic Usain Bolt stacked a three-peat on top of another three-peat by winning the same three events in three consecutive games. Some people are hailing him as the greatest athlete of all time (which may be a bit of a stretch), but one thing’s for sure: The Bearded Man was a faster sprinter. In Jamaica, The Bearded Man used to routinely clock sub-18 200s, but no one was there to time him. In fact, he was the inspiration and the reason Mr. Bolt got into running. The two would run out their days until the days ran out, and one day Olympic qualification was upon them. At the crucial last meeting before the decision of who would go, The Bearded Man went to a bar instead. Maybe not one of his brighter moments, but then again, he never really loved running anyways. In the end, he’d always had the ready set, but never had the “Gostan”.

"Go ahead, do your worst!” The Bearded Man yelled as he spit out the last of his wine. This Tinder chick just wouldn’t stop talking, and it was beginning to torture our hero, who was far too polite to end the date early. This girl had some cojones, talking about how she invented this and had dinner with that, talked to dolphins here and won swimming contests with whales in the Galapagos and so on and so forth. “Oh let me guess, you invented music too?!” The Bearded Man snapped, and then she claimed she had. She said she was some kind of divine, ageless spirit that was committed to travelling the world, great music, and just chillin. She had tons of stories, many of them totally random, off-point and boring, but one out of every hundred or so was good for at least a small chuckle. The Bearded Man was sick of it when he looked down at his knife and saw his own reflection. “My god, she’s just like me…” He thought to himself. “Maybe I’ve been a real ass lately telling everyone about all the great stuff I used to do in the past, maybe I should settle down and get married. I think I’m falling in love…” And at that moment, the girl looked up and said: “Of course you are, dumbass, I’m hot!"

For at least 2 summers, The Bearded Man’s motto was: “Be Free”. He didn’t mean it in any spiritual sense, only in the sense of that he wanted things to literally be handed to him for free. He went to Marquee day club in Vegas to see David Guetta. They wanted to charge him! He looked at the bouncer and said: “Be Free.” Bam. Free ultra super-fancy, literally-DJing-for-the-crowd VIP tickets. He wanted to get on a plane, but that ish was so expensive! He said: “I need a first class ticket to Dubai!” They said: “Ok sir, that will be $10,000.” The Bearded Man replied: “Be Free.” With that, they escorted him onto the plane, first class, free of charge. It was just that easy. He’d travelled the world, met so many cool people, done just about everything he’d ever wanted to do, all without spending a dime. But he was hungry, so he went into McDonald’s and tried to get a hamburger by saying “Be Free”. They said no. Those guys are f***ing cheapskates.

Inventing a teleportation machine wasn’t the *easiest* thing The Bearded Man has ever done. He’ll be the first to tell you that it was totally worth it, but not for the reasons you’d expect. At first, he built it so that he could travel anywhere in the world without jet-lag. Then he got bored. Shortly thereafter, he used it to bring people to him instead, and for the occasional magic trick. Someone would say: “I wish you could be here somehow!” and boom! He’d be there. Instantly. But you know, after a while, the novelty lost its charm. The Bearded Man instead started using it to teleport beer to him from the fridge to his couch. It’s kind of sad, but the human race will do anything to save even a couple lousy seconds.

It’s said that kindred spirits can recognize each other despite being oceans apart. The Bearded Man has tested this fact time and again. That stuff can go pretty deep man… Even to the point where The Bearded Man woke up at 4 in the morning, and yelled that he wanted to order a ham sandwich into the darkness to no one, all because a girl he met (and liked) long ago happened to be walking into a cafe at that moment in time on the other side of the world. Yes, it’s occasionally gotten pretty awkward indeed, like that time he was in the middle of a business meeting and all of a sudden… Umm… You know, you guys are fairly imaginative, we’ll leave the rest of this particular story up to you.

With his god-like good looks, The Bearded Boy had all sorts of tricks for impressing the females. Sometimes he’d draw a sick truck with finger paints. Sometimes he’d do a backflip off the jungle jim. Other times, he’d blow people’s minds with crazy truths from the universe that they hadn’t learned yet. Sometimes girls would say: “I like you a lot!” And he’d say (putting his stunner shades on): “Oh yeah!? I like you *infinity*.” Mic dropped, jaws dropped.

Maryland, 1632. Although The Bearded Man had never personally met Henrietta Maria of France (wife of Charles I of England), he had heard she was quite the fox indeed. Resolved to get to know the princess better (and be the first to introduce her to beaches, of course), our hero was amongst the first to *abandon* America, say “screw it, this is too much work,” and go back to England. Weirdly enough, by the time he got there, most of the crew had died, she was already married to someone else even before he left, and he really didn’t care that much any more. Eager to start a new life in the old country, The Bearded Man found a local music shop where he introduced everyone to disco 300 years before its invention, although due to the lack of the invention of the phonograph and video camera, this fact was never documented. No one could believe that this alien music coming from what The Bearded Man called “synthesizers” could possibly be real. Then one day, a little girl asked: “Are you magic?” Little did she know, he wasn’t magic. It was simply that ALL beards are magic and no one knew it yet. Lesson learned. I think.

Icicles were beginning to form on his lengthy beard as he pushed the small, sputtering motorcycle to its limits. The bitter wind stabbed him in the face like a relentless barrage of daggers. He was the only idiot out on a bike in these miserable conditions, and on Christmas Eve, just before midnight, he was practically the only person on the road at all. Black ice all around, even the tiniest bit of misfortune could surely have sent The Bearded Man to his untimely doom. In fact, the odds were 9,000 to 1 that both he and the bike wouldn't survive the epic trip in one piece. He wondered: “Do they even have snow chains for motorcycle tires?” As if merely pondering the question would somehow make him a more responsible person. "Surely the gas tank must be approaching empty right now…" He thought to himself. As he cleared the last ridge coming out of the foothills, he could just make out the faint lights of a glowing town in the distance. He could probably walk from here if the gas ran out, but hell… It would take all night. So why? Why would he do this? What kind of crazy, stupid, idiotic, all-encompassing thing could make a normally rational man risk life and limb on a cold, dark night when every sane person would have stayed inside by a warm fire? But… To quote The Oracle from The Matrix… “You already know what I’m going to tell you."
