An ode to brushing off the workday blues, and heading straight to the dance floor, ‘Nice Up’ showcases a steady, almost lazy bass line, coupled with steadfast drums, allowing the bubbling keys and beach-tuned guitars to float over the top. Vocalist Asher Chapman delivers a slight reggae croon, offering for you to ‘dance the night away’

Originally forged from soundcheck jams, ‘Fall’ emerged a dark, strong, dub-by groove, driven by a steady, solid shuffle, strong, fat bass, spacey synths, and a horn line that floats into the ether.

Babylon is described as ‘a rich slice of dark reggae rock with a slight twist of drum’n’bass.  It relates  the term for Babylon (often referred to in reggae/dancehall) to today’s dissatisfaction with social hierarchy, globalisation, and basic dislike of governments.

Recorded at The Vault Studio on the Sunshine Coast by Dave Harper, and mastered by Paul Blakey at 12th and Vine Post on the Gold Coast.

When Sunshine Coast reggae six-piece, Bearfoot were ready to put together their latest single, the choice was clear; pack up the van, head to Tanuki Lounge in Brisbane's West End, and get producer Paul Bromley to work his magic.
The result? A monster of a reggae track that bounces along, smiling while flipping the bird at the establishment. 'Impolite' solidifies Bearfoot's position firmly in Australian psychedelic reggae, with swirling layers of keys, trumpet and dubby guitar over the steadfast groove.
Following on from their debut single, 'Babylon' back in February, 'Impolite' is an older track that was re-worked and moulded into a new beast of a song that from the first chopped guitar chord through to the tripped-out change and closing with the horn melody, has you firmly in its grips.

2015 was a huge year for Bearfoot. The reggae six-piece from the Sunshine Coast released two singles, became one of the hardest working acts in the area, and quickly had to live up to the hype - which they met with big grins and no shoes. 

While recording the second single, ‘Impolite’, Bearfoot sneakily laid down some live tracks for one of their oldest songs - Feed My Soul. This track is considered to be Bearfoot at their dubbiest. 

Instead of releasing the original, Bearfoot have bravely and boldly decided to have their producer mate, Jesswah (responsible for their ‘Babylon’ Remix) go to town.  Their instructions? Just have fun with and make it sound FAT.

Oh boy.  Did Jesswah deliver.  Feed My Soul (Jesswah Remix) blends hip hop, reggae, and lots of big wobbly bits to further drive vocalist Asher’s questioning of our creative needs and challenges.

The third official single from Sunshine Coast roots six-piece, Bearfoot.  The much-anticipated follow-up to the single, 'Impolite', 'Dreamer' sees the barefooted ones reunite with producer Paulie B at the Tanuki Lounge to pump out one stomper of a track.

It's a mixed bag, that comes together as one, with producers hand-picked for their own flair and approach to add more magic to the songs.

'Babylon' was produced by Dave Harper at The Vault Studio on the Sunshine Coast. The first foray into the studio for the then four-piece, resulting in an impressive debut single. A song with a slightly darker, rock-edge, but allowing the skanking guitars and rapid-fire vocals to bust through.

'Impolite' - a crowd favourite - was chosen, and Bearfoot had one producer in mind that could make this track a complete banger; Paulie B at Tanuki Lounge. Locking themselves into the West End Studio for a few days, the band re-emerged, tired yet triumphant. 'Impolite' hit hard with massive hooks, bubbling keys, and a bouncing rhythm section. 

When it came to choosing a track as a nod to the Vibe Tribe, it was obvious. The sun-soaked cheerful tune, 'One Drop' HAD to be recorded, and it was long-time friend Brian Goodworth at Big Rock Studio that was perfect for it. Simple, poppy, and a perfect contrast to the darker roots tones of 'Babylon' and 'Impolite'.  They stripped back the production, but left some nice touches (including a sneaky guitar solo from the B-Man himself).

Two of the new recruits to the Bearfoot arsenal, 'Could Be Worse', and 'Dreamer' (which was a reworking of an older Bearfoot track) were roadtested at Woodford, given the nod, and taken proudly to Paulie B at Tanuki Lounge again. These two tracks are the yin yang of the EP - one light, one dark, but working together to deliver similar messages and complementing each other. Huge bass alert! 

And one can't ignore the awesome Mr Boogie's cameo, recorded on Voicemail.

While Paulie B mastered his productions as well ('Impolite', 'Could Be Worse' and 'Dreamer'), Bearfoot chose Paul Blakey at 12th & Vine in Broadbeach to master the other tracks, having them blend nicely together.

Following on from the July release of ‘Dreamer’, the award-winning ‘Impolite’, and their first single, ‘Babylon’, ‘Could Be Worse’ represents the lighter side of Bearfoot, and will welcome in the next stage for the band.
