Bear’s Den release their new single, Elysium on 21st July on Communion Records/Caroline. Their strongest song to date, Elysium is an elegiac paean to the redemptive power of friendship and the song that marks the point Bear's Den go from best kept secret to your new favourite band.

Elysium is backed by three live recordings of tracks from previous EPs Agape and Without/Within (Don't Let The Sun Steal You Away, Isaac and Sophie, all recorded live at the Brixton Electric on 13th May 2014). 

Bear’s Den are Andrew Davie (guitar, vocals), Joey Haynes (guitar), and Kev Jones (drums, bass). Since forming in 2012, the London based trio have built a fervent fanbase through their live shows and a dedicated DIY aesthetic that originally saw them self-fund tours and sell hand printed CDs direct to fans at gigs. 

In two short years, Andrew, Joey and Kev quietly went from pub shows to a jaw dropping headline gig at the Brixton Electric in front of 1500 people. Their appearance at Mumford & Sons’ Summer Stampede saw them play in front of a 60,000 strong, sold out crowd in London’s newly landscaped Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. In the US, the band played support tours with Mumford and Sons and Daughter and festival shows on the Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover Tour in both the US and Canada. 

Following on from their two acclaimed EPs on Communion Records, Bear’s Den are currently working on their debut album in a North London studio. It is due for release in the autumn. The band play UK summer shows at:

Andrew Davie, Joey Haynes and Kevin Jones – Bear’s Den to an ever-growing army of fans – formed a band in 2012. Two short years has seen euphoric word of mouth take them from early days of sofa surfing gigs via touring across Europe and North America to selling out their own 1500 capacity London headline show in May this year. All the while, their music has evolved into something spellbinding and beautiful; a gorgeous, enveloping sound driven by the steady hum of acoustic instruments and Andrew’s haunted voice delivering  “lyrically sincere and emotionally raw songs” (New York Times) that are “as timeless as heartache” (MTV). Arriving this autumn, their debut album Islands is astonishing – a record that perfectly marks the point where a band goes from best kept secret to new favourite band.

Released on Communion, Islands follows the band’s EPs Without/Within and Agape and their hugely acclaimed recent single Elysium (a track that came coupled with Marcus Haney’s remarkable short film). The album was produced by Ian Grimble (Manic Street Preachers/The 1975) at 2KHz Studio in North London. It features:

Formed in London 2012, Bear’s Den have amassed a dedicated and international fan base with their anthemic indie-folk-rock. With 3 studio albums under their belt, as well as recent collaborative project “Fragments"with composer Paul Frith, they have been a regular fixture in the charts of UK and Europe since their inception. Their Debut album “Islands” also garnered a nomination for an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.  

Having toured around the world playing theatres, arenas and festivals (including Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury Festival, Pukkelpop, Lowlands and Bonnaroo), in 2019, following the release of their third album “So That You Might Hear Me" they returned to their origins for a tour of tiny "Highlands and Islands" venues across Scotland and a supporting documentary.  No stranger to music documentary making, the band also featured heavily in the award winning documentary Austin To Boston alongside Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Staves. 

The band’s most recent release, 2020’s “Fragments” is a collaborative work with acclaimed composer/arranger Paul Frith (Bear’s Den, The xx, Radiohead), taking highlights of the band’s back catalogue and rebuilding them from the ground up, alongside an orchestral ensemble, creating a completely new body of work from pieces of the originals.
