Friends for many years, The Checkup & Deelegeenz played a b2b at Le
Bar Rouge in Brussels in 2015 and realized that they were totally
alligned with their musical tastes. They thought it would be fun to
produce some records together and so started by organizing some
digging sessions that would inspire them to make some music. This 3
track EP is the fruit for their love of funk, soul and roots music fitting perfectly to the sound of Peppermint Jam.
Having developed a great workflow together between Brussels and Berlin, you can expect
a consistent amount of releases in the coming future.

The vital No.19 Music continues to serve up essential club weapons, this time with a hotly anticipated offering from the legendary DJ Sneak.

DJ Sneak is an original Chicago house gangster who pioneered the filter house sound and has continued to evolve and adapt over the ensuring years. His I’m A House Gangster label is a go to outlet for high quality, ‘floor rocking grooves and his own powerful sets continue to blow crowds away around the world. Now he’s back with what is sure to become a surefire summer anthem and one of his biggest tracks to date.

The brilliantly frenzied ‘Psycho Killer’ features re-recorded Talking Heads vocals by Franco- American Charlie Sputnik. His standout delivery captures the tortured, freaky feeling of the original as gliding drums and hits form the groove below. Overdriven percussion adds to the intensity of a cut that is guaranteed to make a huge impact in any set. The track has already been creating quite a stir, featuring in the sets of Jamie Jones, Ricardo Villalobos and Art Department at the likes of Amnesia and Kappa Festival, whilst Eats Everything has given the record an early preview on BBC Radio 1.

Alongside the original is an excellent raver dub, which is more stripped back with the focus on the driving house groove and a free roaming, brain-melting bassline that snakes down below. It’s another high-octane track that will blow up the party. A radio edit is also included with some wild guitars layered in for extra madness.

This is a massive package that will detonate any club with its impressive energy levels and excellent re-working of such anthemic vocals.

After its swift intro, 'Brain Depository' proves an intriguing development, as a relentless staccato-laden groove takes centre stage. 'Sword of Lugia' showcases the same penchant for building up rhythm through alliteration, bringing a wide array of percussive elements into play.

'Schlangenmensch' rounds off the release on a tribal note, as wind instruments and exotic modulations layer and intertwine throughout the track.

When the first Beat Bizarre vinyl is released in 1999, it turns the established paradigm of Psychedelic Trance upside down: Powerful and impelling, yet at a moderate tempo. Minimal and repetitive, yet everything but monotonous. Catchy and with a high recognition factor, yet without any prominent melodies or hook lines. Dark and mysterious, yet funky and uplifting. Back then, the sound of the Danish project is the epitome of a movement that has just begun: Progressive Trance.

 The sound of Beat Bizarre is embraced by the scene with such great enthusiasm because it features an entirely new approach towards psychedelic dance music. Instead of using the ecstatic melodies of classic Trance productions, its hypnotic power evolves from booming basses and tight percussions, from subliminal rhythmic buildups, and from a multitude of grinding and jangling sounds that merge into a perfectly sleek groove. When this formula finds expression on the album “Lewd” in 2001 it doesn’t take long before Beat Bizarre are invited to play at all relevant parties and festivals around the world. Among many successful tracks the “Brain Drain RMX” gains probably the biggest popularity, a true milestone of the Progressive Trance genre.

 Originally Beat Bizarre starts as a duo, but in 2005 it becomes the solo project of Martin Spanner Zimmermann. Some might also remember his monumental “Liquid Structure”, the opening track of 2001’s VuuV Experience festival which he produced under the name Martian. His successful albums “MUHKARV” (2012), “Riot” (2013) and "Maunder Minimum" (2015) take the typical sound of Beat Bizarre to a contemporary level without giving away its organic soul. Operating from a studio full of analogue hardware, Martin is eager for action as ever before – so it surely won’t get boring for all the Trippy-Tech heads out there!
