I Just Don't Feel The Same

The Dynatronics are three old pals from Maidenhead, Berkshire who used to be in a band together, eons ago in the late 80s and early 90s, namely Mike Wheeler (guitar, vocals), Andrew ‘Fuzz’ Sutton (bass, guitar, vocals) and Dan Taylor (drums, vocals), he also of The Veras.

Fame and fortune eluded them, but Sushil Dade of The Soup Dragons liked them enough to pass their demo tape to a German fanzine editor, who wrote to them to tell them they were
‘better than The Chesterfields, Pop Will Eat Itself and all that f**king sh1t!’. It certainly made them chortle.

Two support slots for The Wonder Stuff/PWEI fell through shortly after, but at least some bandmates of the luckless trio did go on to bigger and better things, with Extreme Noise Terror, New Model Army and er, that’s it.

Fast forward thirty plus years, and Mike called the other two up, suggesting they re-record some of the songs they recorded back in the day, and record some others that they never got around to at the time. So they booked themselves into Morgan Nicholls’ studio – he of Senseless Things and Vent 414 fame, who has also worked with Muse, The Gorillaz, Lily Allen and The Who. With Morgan in charge of production and adding some rather delectable Hammond, Clavinet and sundry other snazzy sounds as the de facto and very much unofficial fourth member of the band, the lads knocked out a bunch of goodies, including the two on this, their debut single.

With the A side being a newie, and the AA side being an oldie, these songs draw inspiration from a few particular sets in the lads’ humungous venn diagram of musical faves, mainly those covering some of the great 60s beat groups such as The Who, The Move and Cream, and later bands drawing inspiration from them, such as The Prisoners. All with a dash of Morgan Nicholl’s special elixir of contemporaneity, to bring them back up to date. Sort of.

I Feel Obscene

The Guy Hamper Trio was formed by Billy Childish, after a chat with his friend  James Taylor (Hammond organ).

Billy and James had played respectively in The Milkshakes and The Prisoners, often sharing the same bill in the early 80’s, leading to Billy’s blues ensemble The Natural Born Lovers being the support act for the early shows of The James Taylor Quartet.

The Guy Hamper Trio is: Billy Childish on guitar, his wife Julie on bass and Wolf on drums - who as it happens was the drummer in the original incarnation of JTQ - and of course features James Taylor on Hammond organ.

The Guy Hamper Trio provide a bottom end, Blues-influenced instrumental mayhem for those unafraid of dirt, germs and true grime. With no particular wish other than to be recognised as the best at playing badly, they refuse to obey the usual rules of combat and music.

Their first 45 (Polygraph Test / Sally Sensation) was released in 2009, followed by a full-length studio album, ‘All The Poisons In The Mud’, appearing, as if by magic, in 2022, followed by six 7” singles (via Damaged Goods and Spinout Nuggets), and also four further full-length albums.

This handsome record includes ‘Mary Mary' on the opening face, with Face B including ‘Type 2 Error’.

Once again, after consultation with experts in the field, it was decreed that for the enjoyment of Mods, jive experts, lost revellers, and those prone to frequent discotheques, these tracks needed to be on a 7” single and made available throughout England, the UK, Europe, the USA, Indonesia and indeed Portsmouth.
