Backyard Rhythm

After a visit to Adam's Fine Wines Emporium and recording facility  from Senor Phil Cooper, I was kindly asked to provide a mix for his excellent Nu Northern Soul podcast. Blue Note jazz was the task in hand. Unfortunately as is the case with me, I got super carried away and spent hours cutting pasting and scratching some of my favourite Blue Note drums,riffs and improvs and came up with a mix which has kind of had an interest taken in it commercially. LA based singer/songwriter Miki Rose & Brighton based producer El. Train come together to deliver their five track EP 'Over & Over.' They first collaborated on the track 'Control' back in January for El. Train's 'Somewhere Between' EP. Whilst Miki was in the UK in May the two decided to get in the studio to record some music and they managed to flesh out 4 or 5 demos in a day. A couple of months sending files back and forth over the Internet and they finally managed to settle on five tracks that would form the basis of the EP.

I am a passionate man who from a very young age has been  interested in various Genres of Music , avidly seeking music that interests me . Having a vast Vinyl and CD collection , Soundcloud has become an extension of this . 
Ska , Reggae , Tamla Motown , Stax and Atlantic got my Mojo started . Followed by David Bowie , Lou Reed and Roxy Music . This was also cemented by Youth Culture alliance . 
Having been a prolific and to a lesser extent today , a Club attendee my taste for music is on going . At various stages of my life I have played my music as a Dj .
For a period I was contributor for a magazine that specialises in Soul old and new . It is called Manifesto , published in the UK . A fantastic enjoyable and informative specialist publication . 
 I hope you enjoy my selections that I put into Albums to assist your enjoyment .   

"Slakah the Beatchild", or “Beatchild” as he is now known, has been making our heads nod with his signature soulful sound since the inception of his iconic Soul Movement Volumes I (2008) and II (2012). A compilation series of elegant, feel-good soul and hip hop written and produced entirely by Beatchild and featuring noteworthy artists such as Drake ("Bad Meaning Good", "Share"), Glenn Lewis ("Number 1"), Divine Brown ("Crate Love") amongst others.
In an unexpected shift of sound Beatchild followed up with an album under a new moniker - The Slakadeliqs. "The Other Side of Tomorrow” (2010) was a critically acclaimed album which pulled from hip-hop, soul, folk, pop, psychedelic rock - pretty much any sound found in a dusty crate of vinyl. Beatchild seamlessly blurred genre boundaries and created a sound for our future by drawing from the past.

Beatchild is often referred to as a genius in the studio and he has consistently blessed us with exceptional music that leaves his fans in eager anticipation for his next release. The always consistent; never predictable Beatchild has a natural, instinctive response to music. As a multi-instrumentalist, producer, vocalist and song-writer, Beatchild pays keen attention to the entire process, skillfully combining sounds and beats that infuse his music with a distinctive charm and appeal while remaining honest and genuine.

His unique sound is born from both the mind of a producer and the heart of a songwriter. Beatchild creates a unique feeling in his listeners with every composition.
