Beaten By Yuri are Chicago transplants who have been bending genres and causing general confusion since their formation in early 2005. Comprised of two multi-instrumentalists, the band combines a passion for pop/rock with an intense desire to experiment and dismantle. Founded in Detroit, they achieved cult-status there for they're unpredictable live sets and eclectic songwriting. Their sophomore release, GERTA, was deemed “original, adventurous, and bewildering rock,” by Whipserin and Hollerin magazine in the UK while Overground Underground in the States raved that “Beaten By Yuri are working from the template set by the Beatles 40 years ago, a mish-mash of rock, psychedelia, and avante garde pop.”  In late 2012, they released two albums, "Gimme Back My Comb (I Wanna Look Good Before I Kill Myself)" and "Freckled Portuguese" to a cough. They have since drawn comparisons to such heavyweights as the Pixies, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, and early Pink Floyd. But that's a bit silly, really.
