Twenty years have passed since the release of the legendary ‘Golden Girl’ by the late, great MC Conrad and Makoto. One of the most iconic tracks in Drum & Bass history, Conrad had long expressed a desire to rerecord this timeless classic – and this finally comes to fruition alongside a brand-new Makoto remix! ‘Golden Girl’ is Conrad at the peak of his powers, poetic and profound in his writing, whilst raw and evocative in his delivery. The fresh vocals were recorded in one take during a sunlit studio session in 2019, where he sounds even deeper than before, adding even more emotional weight to an already mesmeric performance.

Makoto’s reconstruction is subtle but suave, as the original hallmarks are boosted with a modern twist; you’ll still groove to those amen loops, bounce to the bass and fall in love all over again with those melodic keys and strings! This 2025 revising rekindles the bliss of its precursor, as it flickers with nostalgic joy whilst capturing the hearts of new audiences. Coupled with this is a brand-new Makoto remix, an instantly infectious continuation of the song’s heritage. It is a dazzling duo of tracks that tip a joyous nod of the head towards a pioneer, as the legacy of Conrad and his music lives on forever.
