This was originally gonna go on the EP but I pulled it because it really just has its own vibe. Its crazy that I started this like 3 years ago or so now.. it has a bit of my older sound as I was learning and evolving, so its a bit rough/lofi, but I find it specially charming in that way. 

 This one goes out to Shaun, aka Greenskeeper, who told me to just keep it simple on this one, not overthink, and just let it ride. 

Lots of new music to come and this is just something I wanted to release for the fans before I get into collab szn and start showing you my more modern stuff!

SERA012: Satellite Era presents “Movement EP” - a collection of UK garage-inspired tracks by David Olivares, better known as Agent O.

Ascending from a monumental past year in his musical journey full of packed shows and warm memories, Chicago’s very own Agent O returns home to deliver a worthy sequel to his label debut “Somewhere In Between EP.” For his second project with us, “Movement EP” follows the same established trajectory - finding a middle ground between UKG influences and modern bass music elements.

The EP aggressively kicks things off with “That’s Enough Of That,” originally premiered as an unreleased track in our label showcase mix last year. Sonically demanding in its core, it bursts at the seams with unavoidable low-end presence and carefully placed vocal cuts. The song spins out of control in the second half as glitchy bits take over the soundscape.

“Black Book” immediately shows off its UKG direction with a percussive groove familiar to any garage head. Continuing the EP’s high tech production trend, this song encapsulates some of Agent O’s best qualities as an artist: proper drum work, animated basslines, unpredictable progression, and keen sampling abilities.

“Motion Signal” is surely where the project peaks in energy, delivering a heavy load of tear-out bass. Circulating around the bass music sphere as an ID in live sets over the past few months, this track is no stranger to sound systems and sweaty rooms. It finally sees the light of day, ready to serve as a face-melting secret weapon for dancefloors everywhere.

The title track “Movement” acts as a sensible outro to the EP. Slightly picking up the tempo, it contains characteristics of melodic dubstep that easily blend with the rest of the project. The noisy synth extends wide as the credits roll, nicely layered over the heavier bassline and familiar percussion. Riding off in the sunset, the song serves as a precedent of how emotive Agent O’s music can be.

Though similar in nature, “Movement EP” is a thematic inverse to Agent O’s previous work with us. His personalized sound effortlessly creates a distinct yet welcoming listening experience for both UKG and bass music enthusiasts. He continues to upgrade his arsenal and make sonic waves in the underground as one of Chicago’s best kept secrets.

Hailing from Tampa, FL Ollie Mumbles  got his start in the underground music scene in 2012 running warehouse events at Church of Bass and Ratsoap. He eventually branched out and began setting up and running sound camps at festivals throughout the state. Oliver eventually found his passion in what he saw as the lost art of DJ culture and dedicated himself to honing his mixing skills and curating a library of the most sought after underground tunes of the time. After relocating to Denver, CO in 2015 he spent the next four years participating in the city's emerging underground scene where he made new friendships and further pushed the sounds he's always been a fan of. In 2019 Oliver realized that he no longer felt the same his level of fulfillment from his music and went on semipermanent hiatus, making exceptions only to play shows with close friends. In recent years, the spark has returned for Oliver and put him back on the path he thought he'd left behind. Now, he is focused on keeping it fun and continuing to pursue the passion he fell in love with over a decade ago. There will no doubt be more to come from Ollie Mumbles.

I'm proud to present All-Fanu Mix Volume 8 to all drum-and-bass-loving ladies and gentlemen out there.

This is a selection of only my own productions from the past few years. This is what drum and bass is to me: chopped-up breaks and jungle, borderlining more modern shades of bass music, taking influences from contemporary styles such as footwork and juke. 
When I was cutting my teeth as an artist breaking into the drum and bass scene a decade ago, doing these mixes gained my style some attention (it wasn't even called bass music back then!), and I thought it might be nice to do one again to show especially those new to the Fanu sound where it is currently. To those into the sound I'm happy to tell you that at the moment I'm working on another full-length album in the vein of styles heard in this mix.
Most of these songs have been released on my own imprint Lightless Recordings, which is the home of my music.
