The ever-reliable Katakana Edits crew returns, this time with a quartet of goodtime funk reworks from Berlin-based edit fiend Voodoocuts. James Brown gets a going over on "Voodoosexmachine", a flute-laden re-cut of the Godfather of Funk's best-known tune. Another familiar favourite - check the snaking sax line, as sampled by The 45 King on B-Boy classic "The 900 Number" - is given a dancefloor touch-up on "Blow Ya Woopie", while "Get Up Brother" turns a cover version of Bob Marley's "Get Up, Stand Up" into a deep, bassy, fluid house jam. Finally, there's more bumpin' rare funk business on the ludicrously bottom-heavy "Stay Excited".

Beatnik City rolls it’s sleeves up, slowly dips it’s strong hands in a bowl of resin, then a bowl of haribo tangtastics, turns towards us and beckons us on for battle…but wait! Beatnik City is a lover, not a fighter! And this is Northern Beats Volume 2, which means only sunshine funshine and hijinks will ensue

Turns out the resin and haribo were for Aldo Vanucci’s vajazzle, who knew Hiphoppapotamus and Shimi Sonic owned their own sparkly sweets beauty parlour? DJ Ozyboy was in earlier for back sack and Caramac, Leygo is in room one having his Brazilian nuts, Badboe is in room two having a candy necklace - we’re pretty sure that is definitely porn. Superfort is early for his dirty herbert sherbet dib dab and Daytoner is in the toilet having a Curly Wurly, we’d best leave him to it. F-Block is having his hair set a fantastic candy floss pink and Retro the Robot is just smashing everything up with a giant rubber mallet, he’s been hitting the space dust quite hard and is likely expecting everything to explode into skittles.

Willy Wonka would most definitely approve of this kind of behaviour, taste the rainbow!
