DJ Food & DK with the audio part of their "Now, Look & Listen" video mix, that they perform live on 4 decks and 3 mixers. Check out the <a href="http://www.solidsteel.net">Solid Steel</a> website or the 'Track video' button above, for the full video mix. 
Using Serato's Video-SL plug-in for Scratch Live, they mix, scratch and blend the sound AND vision for each track they play. Months were spent creating videos for each piece of music, either using the original source material or, in most cases sampling footage to create a new video entirely. Described as 'Video Turntablism', it has become a way for Food & DK to visualize their already legendary DJ sets. 
As usual, it's the diverse mix of music that they love and are known for, taking in current faves from Foreign Beggars & Noisia, Joy Orbison and Dorian Concept, but also plenty of classics that have kept dancefloors rocking from TTC, Pendulum, Luke Vibert, Think Tank and Z-Trip. Plus, Grace Jones, Archie Bell and sections from their two highly successful mix CD's that have Rakim rapping alongside the Human League and the Beat battling the drum and bass of Mask, and all in glorious video at the <a href="http://www.solidsteel.net">Solid Steel</a> website.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (31st August) 3 years ago Solid Steel DJs Cheeba, Moneyshot and Food had the idea of collaborating on a version of the Beastie Boys‘ ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album made entirely from the original sample sources, shortly after Moneyshot aired his mix of their ‘Check Your Head’ album in the same way. 

Finally the result is here, titled ‘Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix’ - each of them have taken a third of the album to work on and combined their efforts into a mix that will make you hear it in a new way. Aside from the original sample sources they’ve included commentary from the Beasties, vintage interviews, demo versions and much more.

The mix was over half way completed when they heard the tragic news of MCA‘s death in May so the impetus to finish it was instantly doubled and new meaning given to the project. It goes without saying that this is also a tribute to Adam Yauch and the legacy he left behind and we hope it will be embraced by Beastie fans around the globe.

Astrophonica Podcast 02 - Philip D Kick

Following his recent release on our LT White imprint, Dutch DJ and Producer Coco Bryce extends his sonic prowess into a vinyl-only mix for our podcast series. Settle into an hour of gritty breakbeat percussions, dreamy pads and playfully pitched vocals.

In Coco Bryce's own words:

It’s an all vinyl mix. I kind of went with my usual approach; pulled a selection from my record cabinets, see what could fit together nicely, ranging from laid back stuff to some more heavyweight tunes, without fully laying out the entire mix beforehand.

Most of the time I’ll try to make it a nice blend of old and new, and also have some well known tracks mixed with slightly more obscure bits. I hadn’t played that Hokusai 12” in ages and always felt like it makes for a perfect intro tune, seeing as it starts off with chopped amens right off the bat, but then switches to a super mellow, kinda jazzy vibe halfway through, like it teases you with the rough and the smooth, and yet after the breakdown it completely pulls back and leaves you with this perfect foundation to start building up again.

Beatno has been DJing for many years. He was part of the TICTOC crew known for its lavish arty hiphop expo events and founded Ghettoblaster Soundsystem nights in Rotown Rotterdam where he DJ’d three years of hiphop soul and funk. Currently he is part of the Lowriders Collective, hosts a night at BAR in Rotterdam and he is embarking on new projects. Years of scratching, pushing, mixing and blending with these well known collectives has made Beatno a highly experienced and sought after DJ.
His main music styles are variations of hiphop and trip-hop but his full range encompasses many styles and genres including UK funky, electro, house, juke and drum and bass. Beatno is a true mixmaster with amazing turntable skills who brings a lifelong passion for beats to every performance. Seamlessly blending eclectic styles into an electrifying mix that is distinctly Beatno, he likes to fuse with the crowd taking them on an unforgettable nightlong dance journey.
In addition to his DJ’ing Beatno is also a multimedia artist and designer, known internationally for his exhibitions and installations.
