I've always loved this song and the vocal; originally written for the movie "She's Having a Baby". The lyrics are about a couple going through childbirth and an unexpected emergency with the mother and unborn child in danger. The father is waiting for news of his wife and his baby's condition. 

I made this for playing at Nude Beach and various other events earlier this year, hope you like it!

This month’s freebie comes from none other than Curtis Mayfield. Of course he’s got a load of great tunes, and one of those is Tripping Out, which is all soulful vocals and soaring strings - classic Mayfield. My version has ended up as a sort of broken beat thing - I’ve sped things up a notch (but not too much), let that lovely bass do its thing and made it a bit more friendly for the mellower mixed DJ set. As is customary, I’m not asking for anything for this, other than that you download, share and perhaps enjoy!

Happy 2025 to all the Idlers out there! We're back with our first mix missive of the year - and it's a doozy. When it comes to edit records, so much has already been done. These London-based boys decided to ditch the well-trod paths of Disco, Boogie & Soul to dive headfirst into the devil's maw that is American Rock & Country music, making some of the best we’d heard in awhile, subtly turning some of the stodgiest 60's & 70's shitkicker jams into glorious glitterball anthems. The fact that they're kickass DJ's to boot made this decision a no-brainer! Ladies & germs, please welcome to the Idle Cellars Mix Series stable - Flying Mojito Bros! These two fine gents were extremely gracious - if not eager! - to tackle the Idle Cellars brief and we all have hit the jackpot. Presenting "Americana Pacifica" - we would call it Balearica re-imagined through the lens of US AOR, soft rock, country and more. Accompanying the mix is this message from FMB:

Rugged, saline guitar jams and sea-smoothed rock – from really recent finds to long-cherished shoreline treasures once popped in our pockets for another day, another day. Next up in my free edit series is another one I've loved forever and wanted to work my magic on for ages - Ring My Bell by Anita Ward. This tune’s obviously all about the lame little boopy sound, but I love the jangly guitars and backing vocals too. Standard Funkier treatment of beefing matters somewhat up and rearranging things - I’ve given it a long and gradual build up to the vocal, messed around with the stems a bit and added some percussion and snippy hi hats to create a nearly 7 minute monster. I think it’s turned out pretty well, and I’m inviting you to download it and enjoy it. Go on, help yourself - click the little shopping cart icon and it's yours for nothing :)
