LA MC Kid Abstrakt drops second single Still Dreaming’ from his forthcoming album on Melting Pot Music.

The young MC from Los Angeles, CA represents the jazzy 90s rap sound like no other in 2023. Not only on the Westcoast but internationally, Kid Abs is keeping the legacy of A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul & Pharcyde alive and relevant by using it as a source of inspiration to tell his own story. 

Born in LA to a Brazilian mother and a Nicaraguan father, Kid Abstrakt started out as part of local trio Revolutionary Rhythm before releasing his first album ‘Daydreaming’ in 2017, produced by The Deli from Austin, Texas. With a growing fanbase overseas Kid Abstrakt started working with producers and bands like Cap Kendricks (Germany), Emape (Poland) and Jazzbois (Hungary).

With ‘Still Dreaming’ Kid Abs has chosen the bossa tinged title track from his forthcoming album, releasing on May 12th. The album is entirely produced by Leo Low Pass from Amsterdam. Leo's signature sound of jazzy boom-bap and lofi beats provides the perfect backdrop for Abs positive and skillful rhymes.

"This track is inspired by Menik's short time spent growing up in San Francisco.

The intro audio is actually camcorder audio from 27 years ago, in the footage Menik is about to get on a tram by pier 39 in San Fran, the voices you can hear are his Grandma Pat (RIP), dad and brother, there's also more audio clips at the end of Menik's brother and Mother talking about new toys, it was a happy time!

The acoustic guitar represents Menik's dad as he used to play to Menik and his brother when they were kids. The electric guitar represents Menik as He played all the way through his teens and the computer analogue type sounds represent us all as we were all computer nerds.

All the guitar, keys and percussion was played live by Menik him self. The dialogue of the girls talking about brothers is actually from a @Soulection film of their time at Coachella festival.. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoKnMKXdyc4 14:00) When Menik heard her say brothers in an American accent it triggered his inspiration for the track which is why he had to sample it.”

The mammoth, wordsmith, god-body Self Jupiter of the legendary Freestyle Fellowship is back with a powerful new single "The Master's Lemonade" produced by Mr. Carmack and Self Jupiter. Together they create an updated soundtrack for the revolutionary times that we are currently living in 2020, which is too similar to 1992 than it should be. The same beatings, the same lynchings, and burnings. Rap as volume for the voiceless.

As Self Jupiter did with the Freestyle Fellowship — revisit their seminal 1993 release Innercity Griots recorded pre-1992 Los Angeles riots — this is a message of revolt against discrimination, systemic racism, and police brutality. Until now, the system has only worked for white America. “The Master's Lemonade" proclaims a new day, an awakening, not now but right now! A declaration of sorts, which in turn disembodies the messenger from the message, vocalized by a true master of his craft.
