We’re super happy to have Digital Native back on the Fat and this time around it sounds like he’s stolen a time machine and come back inspired by some of the different eras of Drum and Bass.

First up is mid-nineties style trip ‘Forever and Ever’. Think and amen breaks, 808’s, rave pads, blippy FX, rushing vocals and lush Rhodes. We know these ingredients all too well but when Digital Natives serves them we just cant get enough.

‘Tenterhook’ pushes us forward to late 90s vibes. Eerie ambient soundscapes, snappy breaks and warping bass propel this monster. Dark, atmospheric and gorgeous.

‘Present and Tense’ stylistically sits somewhere between the last two tracks. Lots of lovely breaks, twisted bass and blissful pads. As the tune builds you fall deeper under its spell. Dreamy!

Last up is the title track ‘Rabbit Hole’. This track takes us squarely into the 2000s. Synths, jazzy saxophone licks and funky bongos lead us into some energised drums and you already know this is gonna slap. Once Digital Native unleashes his bass we’re well and truly down the rabbit hole. Chunky!

Soul Deep Exclusives and Leniz are proud to announce that the ‘It Still Hurts’ release is now available in all major digital stores and streaming sites.  Leniz, who is based out of the Netherlands, has been one of the rising stars in the Drum & Bass scene.  With releases on Galacy, Fokuz, Differential, and now Soul Deep, he continues to make his presence known with his signature sounding beats.  The ‘It Still Hurts’ release features 2 tracks, each with it’s own unique feeling and energy.  “Beautiful Piece of Work,” kicks things off with its sizzling Amen drums, techy chord stabs, and running bassline.  “It Still Hurts,” rounds out the release and takes a deeper approach to things.  The techy chords set the backdrop for the tune, while the drums snap away, the bassline rolls along, and the vocals drift effortlessly through the soundscape.  This is an impressive 2 track release from the one like Leniz.  It’s easy to see why he’s widely respected in the D&B circles.  We hope you enjoy the release!  Thanks for supporting Soul Deep!

Beats In Mind: Headsbass is a Drum n Bass collective releasing albums since the start of lockdown 2020. The motive donate every penny from sales and publishing to mental health charities as well as charities relating to the support of mental health for related illnesses, such as Young Minds, Papyrus, CALM, Stem 4 Teenage Mental Health and SUDC-UK.
 
Founder pyxis had the idea to raise funds through music since her own social anxiety has affected her for 20yrs, and utilising her connections in the scene has now enlisted the help of over 150 Drum n Bass artists in the last 2yrs in the form of their beautiful music, from veterans like Peshay and Furney up to the new breed such as Trex, Leniz and Kleu, with their trademark artwork created by Mitekiss.
 
With the support of DJ’s such as Riya, Sweetpea and Telomic, each volume has had a continuous bonus guest mix and a full video documentary on their YouTube channel where each contributing artist talks about mental health and how it affects them or people they have known and supported, with each volume supporting a different mental health issue such as suicide, lockdown blues, young person’s mental health and most recently turning attention to how physical illness can become mental illness when pyxis’ own dad survived a 12 day coma.
 
Lockdown highlighted a brand new breed of mental health victims, from isolation and loneliness to fear and uncertainty. But one thing that was certain was that unity through music was a very solid and effective method of being together whilst being apart. It proved that the unity in community was able to thrive despite the inability to physically connect. It also showed us that whilst the use of social media can lead to some damaging aspects of debate and disagreement, it was one of the only ways for people to stay together and support one another through the very simple means of sharing music, videos, photographs and memories.
 
pyxis and the gang thank everybody for their continued support and this also includes all the DJ’s playing the music, the premier upload channels on YouTube and Soundcloud and of course all the people donating their music for free and the people who are buying and streaming.
