I Wont Leave You

I wrote this one almost all at once, sitting on the floor of our little lamp-lit cabin one night in June after another long day of performing. I'd made a huge gamble just after my 24th birthday, and put all my money into a plane ticket to live overseas and start a band with a friend. We made our living playing on the streets, in bars, at weddings, wherever we could. We were happy. This tune was a meditation on the few years of my life leading up to that point, and the uncertain years ahead.  Though the song is a couple of years old, I've only just gotten around to recording it

The desert, she was good to me, nearly broke my bones
Across the sea is where I'll be, while the sleepers row

Take a stab at shooting the breeze, you're gonna turn out fine
