This song genuinely makes me happy. It's a cheerful song. It feels like summer to me, and friendship and hope and new beginnings. 

I know it's not the hardest song to play, and I know it's horribly cheesy. But I really do love this song to bits, simply because it makes me happy.

Let's take a road trip

Before I say anything else, this song really needs a band. Hell, it could be absolutely awesome with an orchestra. So if you're gonna listen to it, turn it up loud (kill those eardrums), try to ignore the little hops in my voice and the seagulls in the background and imagine the instruments. Imagine the snares playing harmonies. Imagine the brass section coming in the bridge. Imagine the bass line properly worked out and played by an actual bassist. If you hear what I hear, I promise you it's quite pretty. 

Though this is not a love song, it is dedicated to a good friend of mine. I hope he sees it, and I hope he likes that it is now officially out in the world. On the internet. Where it will never really go away. 

And I hope you enjoy it, too. This is my tribute to all those people who just seem too amazing to ever stop existing.

Sometimes, you think about where it's all going and how nothing really matters, and you freak out. It's nice if someone is there to tell you to take it one day at a time.

This is a bit of a dark one, but that's okay. After all, who doesn't love a story about regret?

Witch hunt

Well this was an experiment. I've never done the voice layering before, but it was a lot of fun! I hope it turned out okay. I think so.

I can't exactly explain why, but this song is very important to me. It's good to finally have it recorded and up on the internet. Maybe it will mean something to somebody else, too.

This is also dedicated to a friend. I hope she likes how it turned out! And I think she'll get it. Maybe. Hopefully. We're so in sync, there's a good chance she will. 

So this was a pain to record, mostly because it's my entire range. This is it. Can't go higher, can't go lower. But! It's here now, and I like it. It's angry and uplifting and chaotic and a little insane, but mostly incredibly satisfying to play. You have no idea how much fun this song is to do. And yes, there's some things that could technically be better but to be perfectly honest I kinda enjoy how it adds to the chaos. So go ahead! Give in to the chaos! I hope you enjoy :D

Torturing miracles

Some songs take a while to write. I've been fiddling with a song since Christmas, Never die started out as four chords and stayed that way for several months until I finally came up with an idea for lyrics and a chorus.

Not this one.

I set up the framework for this in about an hour, and then just spent  a few days building the songs around it. Love it when that happens. I've got a good feeling about this one!

I considered doing backing vocals but figured it didn't really work. So it's simple, and it's small, and it's softer than it's supposed to be because my bloody microphone can't handle my voice. But oh well, at least I like the lyrics. In fact, I think my favourite lyric I've written so far is in this song. I'll leave you to guess what that is.

Lingerie unseen

It's summer. Summer is the time of energy, of youth, of making new plans, of travelling and getting together with friends. Summer is the time of being alive and at the same time of lazing about all day. But we got 70 years, full years, to use as best we can. 25550 days to fill, to have adventures and love people and do whatever makes us happy and make the world a better place. 70 years to rule the world. 

So let's do it.

Also I'm not entirely sure why I kept the wee bits at the start and finish, but it seemed right. It seemed to fit. It's quirky! And quirky is good, right?
