Drama Girl - Original Soundtrack is an electronic album based on the film score composed by Beau Zwart for the Dutch film Drama Girl, directed by Vincent Boy Kars. 

The album has a narrative identity that evokes the film without images. It translates orchestral film music from the 60s into a contemporary electronic soundtrack, capturing the enchanting influences of composers like Bernardt Herrman and Henry Mancini by using analog synthesizers to emulate traditional orchestration techniques. For this release, all the music composed for the film has been rearranged to form a full length album with influences from jazz, classical, ambient, wave, hip hop and modern electronica that harks back to the sound of the 80s and 90s.

Beau Zwart is a young upcoming film composer, DJ and producer from Rotterdam. Both in his more club related work and scores, Beau transforms his classical background to make complex music accessible and crosses borders between genres. 

This release is the first installment of Narrative Identity Records, a Rotterdam-based label that focuses on soundtracks and narratively driven music. The label is collaboration between filmmaker Vincent Boy Kars and composer Beau Zwart with the goal to connect and innovate the worlds of music and film.

Evolove EP

Evolove is an amalgamation of the words 'evolve' and 'love.' The evolving musical structures in house, afrobeat, and jazz inspired Rotterdam talent Beau Zwart in the process of sculpting this EP. The idea of combining these different genres started out after a night of dancing on the couch with his girlfriend. After hours of dancing and flipping through different moods and genres, the concept of this EP was born. Born out of love (for dancing).

Pre pandemic, Boogie Cafe released a compilation of various emerging artists from Bologna titled 'Bologna On The Move' . This time the focus is on a new wave of amazingly talented producers coming through from Rotterdam NL. The album is dedicated to the more soulful, jazz influenced sound emerging from the city, in contrast to the city's reputation for Techno, Electro and the harder edge of dance culture.

Beau Zwart's track is a fine slab of dance floor jazz. ‘Varisplit’ has wonderful crisp drums, a weighty bassline, heady organ stabs, and trippy electronics. A track that variates in to 3 musical genres: Broken Beat, Hip-hop and House

About Beau Zwart:
Rotterdam-based producer Beau Zwart had an early introduction to music, studying classical piano throughout his childhood. Amazed and inspired by the works of classical composers from older generations like Bernardt Herrmann & Ennio Morricone, he started to write his own compositions. In his teenage years, he discovered jazz and electronic music and implemented these worlds in his compositions, performances and DJ-sets.

Today, Beau is a producer, performer, DJ and sought-after film composer. He graduated in Music and Technology at the University of the Arts Utrecht, released several EP's on record labels like INI Movement, Fluid Funk, Midnight Riot Records, Boogie Cafe and his own imprint Narrative Identity. He performed at festivals like Noorderslag, Grasnapolsky and North Sea Jazz Round Town. Armed with an extensive collection of analog synths and drum computers, Beau strives to make complex music accessible and crosses borders between genres.

For the first release of 2022, we have another newcomer to the Lazy Days family.

Beau Zwart, is a young talented producer from Rotterdam. Classically trained from an early age, he discovered Jazz and Electronic Music in his teenage years and started to incorporate his new influences in his compositions and in performances and DJ sets.

He graduated bachelor in Music & Technology at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2019 and released music on labels such as Midnight Riot, Boogie Cafe and Fluid Funk. He’s also a succesful film composer. He scored the music for “Independent Boy” (IDFA, 2017), “Vieze Film” (VPRO, 2017), “Alone Together” (IDFA, 2018), FENIKS (NFF Wildcard, 2019) and his latest feature length score for “Drama Girl” (Tiger Competition, IFFR, 2020) which was released in 2020 on his own record label: Narrative Identity. The score was nominated for the Buma Music in Motion award in the category Best Original Feature Length Score.

On his debut EP on Lazy Days, Beau shows his ability to play with different styles that inspire him. From the Broken Jazzy vibe on Rusty Lewis, through the slower and emotionally driven Safe Shave & Bambino Breaks to the Electro tinged No exit, we are clearly in presence of of burgeoning talent.

For the remix on the title track, we once again asked one of our favorite artist on the label and friend, Art Of Tones. Fresh from a very prolific and succesful year and landing at #3 in the Traxsource Nu Disco Best Artists of 2021 and remixing everybody under the sun and launching his own imprint PALP, Art Of Tones turns Rusty Lewis into an euphoric uptempo Jazz Funk bizness the way only he can do. It screams “party” from the first synth line!
