Live From The Teacher's Lounge

Years ago I would cross dress in my room and DJ, imagining that some day I might come out and someday live a life that felt so unattainable. I had deep fears of losing it all: my friends, my family, a chance at finding love. This weekend I experienced a reality I could have never even imagined, surrounded by extremely talented artists who care for each other, who accept each other and celebrate our weirdness in a container held by a village with a common vision.

I’ve also always had fears of stepping into music/DJing as a more full time thing, it felt so far away and such a risk that could never work out. Since being in the Bay Area I’ve been able to iterate over and over, surrounded by others dedicated to their craft and giving me opportunities to share what I’ve been playing with.

I still have the dream of sharing more with the world, this includes throwing dance events, enabling us to explore the queer parts of ourselves through holding space on dance floors, and getting back into music production to share my messages with the world.

I’m starting a mailing list, and soon a Patreon to help me dedicate more time to releasing mixes, creating music, throwing events and spotlighting all of the amazing musical talent out there in the world. I’d love for you to join me on this journey and contribute where you feel called.

Time to don that Hypercolor tee and fire up your favorite episode of Dance Energy: Persona Non Lisa and producer Austin Fraser are dropping their debut track “Body Party.”  Throwing back to the euphoric vibes of 90s house-pop with a beefed-up modern production aesthetic, the track is sure to burn up clubs and house parties alike this summer.  The debut single flips Ciara’s 2013 R&B cult classic into a modern indie dance sound that will blend nicely with Anabel Englund, Tensnake, and Azari & III.  Persona Non Lisa’s voice confidently struts and sashays along a bedrock of slamming bass drums, sassy piano stabs, and hands-in-the-air snare rolls.

The debut single will be followed up by a music video produced by San Francisco-based production company Dandy Lions, forthcoming in May 2018.
