Soul Departure clicks up its fifth EP here with Kikko Esse the able producer at the helm for the occasion. 'Deep Mind' is indeed deep but it's fulsome too - warm pads rush through the air waves as the drums and kicks establish the groove below. '4 PM' is more stripped back to the thudding kicks and lo-fi synth leads but diffuse chords bring plenty of late night soul. There is an upbeat energy to the surging house warmth of B-side opener 'Take It Easy' then 'Make It' shuts down in devastatingly emotional fashion with heart-melting chords and nagging little vocal hooks.

To celebrate the release of my FABRICLIVE96 CD thats out today I thought i'd release the closing track 'SDN'.

It premiered over on Complex UK on Wednesday. Here's what I had to say about the track:

"'SDN' is a track I wrote around 2/3 years ago. When I originally wrote it, I just wasn't sure about it. I mean, I loved the vibe of it, but I just wasn't sure where it fit in. Especially at the time, where most music I was hearing was a lot more dancefloor-driven, so I sort of left it alone. Then, last year, I found it on a hard drive and was kind of blown away with it a lot more-so than I was when I made it. Unfortunately, I lost the project file so I could never give it a fresh mix down but, to be honest, I think it still sounds pretty good. I was trying to find a way to introduce it to the world and then was approached to mix FABRICLIVE 96 and it made perfect sense to put it on there."

Because Of Art, the alias of London based producer Alex Grover, who has very quickly established himself as one of dance music's hottest new talents, hailing attention from ravers, DJs and tastemakers alike.

Alex has had successes across the entire spectrum of dance music, most recently for his rave inspired collaboration with Antony Szmierek ‘Circle Of Light’. ‘Circle Of Light’ received widespread support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music with multiple plays from Pete Tong, Jack Saunders, Sarah Story and Craig Charles. Spotify UK also championed the track across their editorial playlists including ‘Altar’ and ‘New Music Friday’. 

Outside of the studio and behind the decks, Because of Art is a growing name on the DJ circuit, most notably sharing bills with the likes of Franky Wah, Sven Väth, Dusky, Anja Schneider at Motion Bristol, Egg London and many more. Alex's DJ skills can be sampled in his mix for Sasha’s prestigious label ‘Last Night on Earth’, where he released ‘Home’ in 2022.
