In the January sun
this city gained a heart
that was kind of numb

Song in the night

A song that stemmed from some poetry I wrote on a plane whilst flying back into Christchurch. This city feels like home.

LYRICS:

I fly in over the Canterbury planes
I see the geometry that man has made
I see lines of houses
and cars below
I think of the places that my feet know
and I'm home

I'm just so in love
with this city I call home
as I'm weaving round
the rumbles, and the cones
I find resilience, and I find brilliance
amongst it all. 

I watch the ocean, as it greets the land
Almost feel as though
I could scoop it up, in my hand
and it's such a small place
in comparison, to the landscape
of the world we live
but I feel it knows my name
as I return to it today

I guess I don't know
if it'll always be my home
but I've engraved my footprints 
upon the streets
As they're fed me with creativity

I'm just so in love
with this city I call home.

Roots

Went to see Lydia Cole play a gig a few weeks back, and the emotions stirred from that along with some advice from a good friend led to the outpouring of my soul in the form of a song.
