Bossa can be a chaotic room and its rare that you see a crowd there as stunned silent and deeply locked as folks were hearing Doula play that night. One of our favorite new DJs in New York, Doula is an incredibly kind person and an absolute killer DJ who we’re super excited to have close out the evening. She’s made appearances at great parties like Rare Frequency Transmissions, tossd, TOWER, Palm Wine, recently played b2b with DJ Voices for Drama Pride, and has a hotly anticipated new resident party called ESSENCE starting soon at the freshly opened Earthly Delights in Ridgewood. Borrowing some words from HYPNOSIS’s event she played because they are too good to not share… “Doula is a Bronx-born, Brooklyn based DJ unbound by genre known for inducing tantric mania through sensual and intricate sonic experiences. She is a mother to her crowd - with her you will receive what you didn’t know you needed.”

A multi-disciplinary artist, DJ, and producer, Michael Magnan has been a transformative force in New York City’s music scene since arriving in 2000. Known for his high-octane, genre-spanning sets, he’s held residencies at some of the most iconic and unforgettable parties in the city over the last two decades. His recent performance at Nocturnal Emissions was no exception, a sonic journey blending hypnotic rhythms with pulsing beats that left the crowd in a euphoric trance.

The 8th instalment of our In:Focus Series goes back to where it all began. The Originators, the start of the sound we all love - Its Mark & Moritz, it's Basic Channel. 

There’s not a lot we can write that hasn’t already been written about this legendary duo and record label. Its quite hard to fathom how much innovation and quality came out of Berlin in such a small space of time, but over the course of 2/3 years Mark and Moritz invented a genre and wrote there names into the history books.   

What we have presented here isn’t a complete body of their work but it covers the majority of their output , with most of the ‘Big Hitters’ featured. We Chose to focus specifically on the releases as Basic Channel / Cyrus / Quadrant, however there is much more to explore, with their output as Maurizio, Rhythm&Sound, Round One - Five. 

Many have tried imitating, none have succeeded. This is Basic Channel
