DakhaBrakha is a quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine, experimenting with Ukrainian folk music since the group's inception in 2004, combining an array of instruments from around the world with powerful and uncompromising vocal performances. For the latest release on their ever-impressive Human By Default imprint, label heads Bedouin rework four tracks from DakhaBrakha’s catalogue, fusing the captivating vocals and instrumentation of the quartet with their pitch-perfect production.

Leading the A-side is their reinterpretation of ‘Salgir Boyu’, with shuffling percussion and organic loops providing the backdrop for stunning elements of the original to shine. The rework of ‘A Doshchuk Nakrapaye’ follows, with DakhaBrakha’s vocals fading in and out of the background as Bedouin’s gentle synthesis and evolving drums carry the track. On the flip, ‘Svyryd’ sees hypnotic drones and bright shakers evolve alongside a rolling bassline before closer ‘Yahudky’ seeks more electronic territories, bringing tense strings and unfurling synths together to see out the release.

Alt Orient is proud to present Ao Va, a six-track compilation showcasing the innovative fusion of traditional Eastern melodies and contemporary electronic sounds. 'Ao Va' is compilation through downtempo & organic house. weaving together the threads of tradition and innovation. With tracks ranging between 95 BPM and 122 BPM, the compilation flows seamlessly through downtempo grooves and up-tempo energy. The release will be available on all streaming platforms starting December 13th, 2024.

Opening the compilation is a stunning collaboration between Dan Bay and Omar Tara, blending downtempo grooves with evocative Arabic poetry. Their track sets the tone for a deeply cultural yet forward-thinking musical experience.

Next comes a reimagined Turkish classic by PAYE, a Berlin-based duo consisting of Ufuk Elik and Cem Dinler. With Ufuk on bağlama and vocals, and Cem on keyboards, e-bass, and e-drums, this downtempo interpretation honors timeless Anatolian music while pushing it into contemporary realms.

The third track brings together the talents of ÜNAM, Mada.Mada, and Grillô, who have composed a mesmerizing organic downtempo instrumental. Their collaborative effort creates a lush soundscape rich in texture and emotion.

Tracks four and five shift the energy with remixes of the Georgian artist Tamada. providing a fresh take on his iconic sound. The first remix, by Come Closer, offers an intriguing downtempo interpretation, while the second, a collaboration between Anturage and S.Samo, brings an up- tempo flair to the compilation.

Closing the journey is a serene composition by Lebanese producer Tarek El Hout, featuring Raymond Boulos on vocals and Dimitrios Kanaras on bouzouki. This chilled-out finale leaves listeners with a sense of calm and introspection, rounding out Ao Va with grace and beauty
   Ao Va Compilaation is set to be released on the 13th of December.
