On 7 April 2018, the city of Douma, Syria, was targeted by two chemical weapons attacks. At that time, the city and its surrounding areas had been under siege by the Syrian military since 2013. At least 70 people died in the attacks, according to reports.

Two distinctive yellow canisters, similar to those previously linked to chlorine gas attacks across Syria, were found following the strikes: one on a rooftop balcony near to Al Shuhada square, and the other in a bedroom at an unknown location in the city.

The Bab-el-Mandeb   is a strait between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa. It connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

When the man-made Suez Canal opened in 1869, it created a link between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Consequently, the Bab-El-Mandeb Strait became even more important and is now considered one of the most vital gateways of maritime transport.

The rivalry for control of the Bab-El-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea is part of a greater regional conflict between Iran and its Shi’ite allies and Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and their Sunni allies.

The Zenata  زناتة are a group of Amazigh tribes, historically one of the largest Berber confederations along with the Sanhaja and Masmuda. Their lifestyle was either nomadic or semi-nomadic.

The 14th-century historiographer Ibn Khaldun reports that the Zenata were divided into three large tribes: Jarawa, Maghrawa, and Banu Ifran. Formerly occupying a large portion of the Maghreb (Tamazgha), they were displaced to the south and west in conflicts with the more powerful Kutama and Houara.

The Zenata adopted Islam early, in the 7th century. While other Amazigh tribes continued to resist the Umayyad Caliphate conquest well into the 8th century, they were quickly Islamized. They also formed a substantial contingent in the subsequent Muslim conquest of Iberia.

Beit Dajan was mentioned in the Old Testament by Beth Dagon. During the Assyrian period, the village was known by Bit Daganna, and the Romans called it Keparada gon.

The village, located on a sandy hill on the central coastal plain, lay at the intersection of the Jaffa-al-Ramla highway with the coastal highway that went south to Gaza. It was slightly to the south of the Jaffa-Jerusalem highway. It was situated 9 km southwest of Jaffa.

Beit Dajan had two elementary schools: the 1st was an elementary school for boys in 1920 and it had an enrollment of 353 boys in 1945; the 2nd school was for girls and it had an enrollment of 102 girls in 1945.

The Ummayyad Caliph Hisham ibn 'Abd al-Malik (A.D. 724- 743) built a palace in the village, and also the Crusades built a castle known by Casal Maen.

There are four settlements on village lands: Beyt Dagan, which was established in the site six months after the conquest of Bayt Dajan in April 1948, Mishmar ha-Shiv'a, built in 1949, Chemed, built in 1950, and Gannot, built in 1953.

Background:

The vilage was situates on a low sandstone hill on the central coastal plain, overlooking the Mediterranean seashore, 16 km north of Jaffa.

Al-Haram was probably seized by Zionist troops some time before the end of the British Mandate on 15 May 1948. By this time, Zionist forces were in control of the whole coastal area between Haifa and Tel aviv.

The settlement of Rishpon was built in 1936 on the northern border of al-Haram's land; Kefar Shemaryahu was established in 1937 southeat of the village site, on what had traditionally been village land.

The shrine, a few houses, and the cemetery are all that remain of the village. The patially renovated shrine is a large complex with an elaborate architecture, including arched collonaded porticos and a minaret that rises atop one of its buildings. Near the shrine, the ruined foundations of village houses are visible; further away, several houses stand which are presently inhabited by Jews. The dilapidated cemetery overlooks the sea and is used as a parking lot for Israeli tourists.

In May 2012, Hanan al-Fadl (not her real name) was grocery shopping in a market in central Baghdad when security forces dressed in civilian clothing seized her, bundled her into a car, and drove her to the office of a state institution, she told Human Rights Watch. There, she said, they beat her, shocked her with electric cables, and drenched her in cold water in an effort to force her to admit that she had taken a bribe. Hanan, a manager at a state-affiliated company that approves construction projects, said she realized she was paying the price for refusing to waive through a project in which the contractor had used sub-standard materials. “I made a mistake,” she said. “I didn’t know someone important in the government had a stake in the project.” Beaten and tortured for hours, Hanan said she refused to confess—until her interrogators threatened her teenage daughter.

Today, women's discourse is the dominant discourse in societies, and since half of every society is women, issues concerning them are important. Throughout history, there have been many abuses against women. In ancient Greece, women were treated like slaves and deprived of the least human rights. Later, with the renaissance and the arrival of the Enlightenment, egalitarian currents formed as a result of this historical oppression. In today's society, there are three major trends in women's issues. Some reject any social presence of the woman and sentence her to stay home. Egalitarian currents encourage women to have a maximum social presence equal to men's, and the third group has an interstitial view.

The role of women in the revolution of women's revolutionary presence which started from the time of the constitution and continued until and after the victory of the Islamic Revolution is in fact the
return of women to her original nature. In addition to revolutionary movements, women participated in demonstrations and relief activities and ... The sacrifices they made to their wives, children and brothers contributed greatly to the victory of the revolution. Without women, the revolution would not have been successful and would not have been effective. In his view, the inclusion of women into the context of the revolution is one of the fundamental keys to the victory of any revolution: "If it had not been for the presence of women in the revolutionary movement of the Iranian nation, it would not have been victorious in this way or would not have won at all, or great problems would have arisen. The presence of women was a problem. It was the same in the war, and in other matters since the beginning of the revolution. So
there's a lot of effort." He believes that this sensitive and unmatched role must continue: "We now need a few things to keep the Iranian woman in the same process that the revolution had put her through. The first is to continue the argument, that is the correct and honest argument that shows what a woman's position is. Secondly, to continue and maintain his revolutionary state, thirdly, to prevent the penetration of what was the most supportive of the tyrannical culture that stimulated that instinct: photographs, films, etc."

BedouinDrone -  Iraqi Woman

The refugees were victims of the 1948 Nakba, or “catastrophe” in Arabic, fleeing the violent ethnic cleansing of Palestine by Zionist militias as Israel was formed.

But between September 16 and 18, 1982, the refugees, now living in Shatila and Sabra, along with Lebanese civilians, were attacked by a right-wing Lebanese militia, in coordination with the Israeli army.

Between 2,000 and 3,500 people were killed.

In June 1982, Israel invaded Lebanon during the country’s 15-year civil war (1975-1990), with the stated aim of destroying the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which had been based in Beirut and was launching attacks on Israel from southern Lebanon.
The PLO withdrew from Lebanon by September 1, 1982. Assurances were provided by the United States and a multi-national force that the remaining Palestinian refugees and civilians would be protected.
Two weeks later, the Israeli military besieged Sabra and Shatila and provided cover for their allies, a right-wing Lebanese militia called the Phalange, to carry out the mass killings.
The killing continued for 43 hours, from 6pm on Thursday, 16 September, until 1pm on Saturday, 18 September.
While accurate figures on the number of people killed are difficult to ascertain, estimates have put the death toll at between 2,000-3,500 civilians.
Testimonies from the mass killing describe horrific acts of slaughter, mutilation, rape and mass graves. Images from the aftermath were aired on television worldwide and caused global outrage.

BedouinDrone - Resistance

A massive blast at al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza killed nearly 500 Palestinians, triggering global outrage at the slaughter of people, many of whom were taking shelter from nearly two weeks of relentless Israeli bombing of the besieged enclave.

Palestinian officials have accused Israel of bombing the hospital while Tel Aviv has blamed Gaza-based armed groups for the horrific explosion .

The al-Ahli Arab Hospital is located in Gaza’s Old City between the Shujaiya and Zeitoun neighbourhoods in Gaza City.

There have been over 115 attacks on healthcare in Palestine since the start of the conflict on October 7, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

At least 20 hospitals in Gaza City and North Gaza and one hospital in Rafah have received repeated evacuation orders from the Israeli military, and 77 attacks have been documented in the West Bank, 43 of these attacks have caused physical violence to health teams.

“Gaza’s medical infrastructure has been irreparably damaged and healthcare providers are working in a dire situation with limited access to medical supplies and conditions that do not allow them to provide timely and quality healthcare,” said Tlaleng Mofokeng, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health.

At least 118 Palestinian civilians were killed and at least 760 were injured after Israeli forces opened fire on civilians who were attempting to get food from aid trucks on al-Rashid street at the Al-Nabulsi roundabout to the west of Gaza City. The event has been recognized as a massacre by journalists, diplomats, and human rights organizations, although the description is disputed by the Israeli military. Officials from three hospitals respectively reported treating over 100, 142, and "dozens" of people with gunshot wounds,with a "large number of gunshot wounds" confirmed at al-Shifa Hospital by the United Nations. The details of the incident are under investigation; Israel stated that Israeli forces first fired warning shots in the air and then opened fire out of fear of a moving "mob" of Palestinians, and that the event caused a mass panic
