2013 saw UK techno legend Dave Angel make an impact on John Digweed's Bedrock Records with the impressive 'Harlequin'. The record became one the label's standout releases and a firm favourite on the dancefloors. Having already treated us to 'Keep It', from our Underground Sound of Miami album, Dave makes a rapid return with the majestic Voodoo EP.
Whether it be the huge piano riffs of the title track, the driving house vibes of Give It Up or the wiggling acid lines of Tomahawk, all are ready to spread their black magic... Needles at the ready!

Dave Angel - Give It Up

This collaboration between one of Hollands most influential techno DJ/producers - Michel de Hey - and Amsterdams highly original Rauwkost, is an incredibly exciting meeting of creative minds. The end results - Julienzzz flying high on a deep throbbing techno backbone overlaid with hypnotic melody flourishes, and the counterbalancing Gibsome taking on a more laidback, deeply groovy warmness and heartfelt, soulful, spiritual vibe - are nothing short of extraordinarily superb. The creator of some of the freshest sounds in techno music in recent years, fellow Dutchman, Ramon Tapia, is also on fire here. For his remix of Julienzzz, a teasing percussive intro leads into a monstrous, infectious, booming groove that is sure to cause chaos all summer long. Italy is also strongly represented here by the super-hot production duo - Paolo Martini & Paul C, who never fail to impress. Their catchy and bouncy techno remix style rides high on a rhythm that has the groove and swing factor turned up to the max. Robert Babicz is a man on a mission with sounds and emotions. The Cologne based producer stands out as one of only a handful of artists who are not afraid to breathe life into their productions with true emotion. His music displays a level of honesty and soul that sets it apart from so much of today’s disposable mass music production line. The mark of a true musical innovator, here he once again reveals his talent and skill as one of Europe's most essential techno producers, with three stunning new creations for Bedrock. 

Launching with the energetic acidic attitude of the aptly titled “Rave Angel”, this triad of tracks is a musical master-class to behold. You could never get tired of the glorious gut-wobbling bass of “Wonderland” as it opens the door to a twisted rollercoaster ride of a track, while the darkness of “Shifting Reality” morphs amazingly into a truly beautiful heavenly serenade for a finale.

Babicz moved to Germany from his native Poland in 1980 and began making dance music in the early 1990s, when acid house was at its peak of popularity. His career has thus already spanned more than two decades and it is evidently clear from the music that he creates, that he has devoted his life to his craft. 

A much-respected connoisseur of sound design and production, his services as a mastering engineer are in demand all over the world. He is also well known as an exciting live performer, utilizing a host of synths and live equipment to enhance the improvisation in every set he plays. But Babicz's art is comprised of more than just his music. He films everything, later editing the images together as a visual accompaniment to his audio. His short films capture the emotions, colours and feel of his trips and, in turn, these then also have an effect on his music, colouring his emotive, unique take on electronica with a very human feel.

Somewhere back in the mists of time, most likely involving the odd papal decree, some dodgy calculations about how long it takes the earth to do a trip round the sun, and a nerdy historian or two wanting to find a way to compartmentalise the eras they were documenting, the concept of decades and centuries entered the public consciousness.

What with folk across the ages always looking for an excuse to party, they became something to celebrate, both the longevity of the milestone attained, and the excitement about what was to follow.

In the notoriously fast-moving world of music, such longevity can be hard to find, especially in an era of short attention spans and soundbite culture. It thus only seems right and proper to hail Dave Seaman, Steve Parry and their Selador imprint for reaching its 200th release (the 200 actually encapsulates a whopping 796 tunes and mixes in total, fact fans).

To put that into some sort of context, that’s way more music than the two previous era-defining labels Dave was involved with, Stress in the 90s and Audio Therapy in the 00s, combined. The 12 years Steve has spent co-helming Selador eclipses the time he spent front and centre at the legendarily influential 3 Beat store. All this at a time when the music marketplace has never been more saturated or harder to navigate in the quest to gain visibility for music you believe in.

Steve and Dave don’t need to do this. Both well into their fourth decade in the acid house trenches, each possesses an impressive CV, and is not short of work. But nothing drives these two electronic music titans more than the search for new music, the buzz of hearing something special for the first time, and the hunger to help bring it into the world, nurture its development, and share it with as many like-minded souls as possible.
Selador has proved to be a significant player in terms of sourcing and developing new talent in the arena they dub “house, techno and all flavours in between”, as is shown across those 200 releases. It has also proved to be a trusty vehicle for Steve and Dave to release many of their own productions, the benchmark set by their peers on the label roster driving the duo to ever greater heights.

It is thus fitting that the 200th Release Project features 12 brand new and exclusive remixes courtesy of friends old and new, all of whom have reworked some of the bosses’ classic productions.

Spread across three thrilling 4 track EPs released throughout August 2025, this celebratory collection brings together an array of talent from around the world covering a multitude of genres within the Electronic Club Music realm.

In short, it’s what Selador has been doing from releases 1 to 199, with added birthday vim and vigour. Savour and enjoy.
