After a long wait, and restructure of our releases due to The Pandemic, we decided that our next EP had to represent the times that we miss on the dancefloor as well as the glimmer of hope that dance music has given us through these surreal times.
Hardt Antoine Steps up for his second independent Reculture release with two originals.
"Tonight" is an emotional downtempo track resonating feelings missed from a less bleak time. The track is carried through its 80s style bassline, emotive vocal cuts and cinematic feel. Evolving from a mellow and hypnotic aura and transformed by the tracks drums and percussive elements
"Are You There" brings together elements of acid, percussion and a rolling bassline that keeps your feet moving - an ode to the dancefloor. "Are You There's" liveliness creates an energetic atmosphere guided by melodic colours. The vocals within the track opens a dialogue between the music and the listener that creates a symbiotic relationship between DJ and those on the Dancefloor.

With releases via KOMPAKT, My Favorite Robot and Helena Hauff’s Return To Disorder, Captain Mustache’s reputation as an artist and a producer of note continues to build. A lover of Detroit techno and Electroclash, his take on electronic music has welcomed a wealth of supporters ranging from Laurent Garnier and Dave Clarke to Jennifer Cardini and Louisahhh. His latest album, ‘Indigo Memories’, showcases this diversity in full, presenting a powerful and emotive trip through techno, electro and beyond to deliver an in-depth representation of his wide-reaching sound palette, set for release on John Digweed’s iconic Bedrock imprint.
“After years of work, I’m super happy to release a complete album on Bedrock. It’s the highest level of recognition for a techno producer, and I’m thankful to John Digweed for that. I’m glad and proud to present these ten special songs, which combine my influences between Detroit techno and electro music. Many were produced during the pandemic when I was feeling melancholic, thinking of the neon lights of the party and the colors of the night. Each track sounds like a tribute to nightlife and a love statement to dance music, with a romantic dimension and a call to dance. I’m honored to have worked on ‘Catch Me’ with Davina of the legendary ‘Don’t You Want It’
produced by Mad Mike, one of my all-time favourite songs. I also wanted to close the album with ‘Mentally Naked’ featuring Chicks on Speed, which was played by Andrew Weatherall during his last radio show, just before the beginning of party black-out. Now I’m pleased that these ‘Indigo Memories’ come with the return of the light.” - Captain Mustache.
Opening via a medley of brooding synths, vibrant leads and warping basslines across ‘Bleu Azur’, ‘title cut ‘Indigo Memories’ and ‘Paola’, the Frenchman quickly establishes his ability to fuse dark and light, playful and serious. Escalating leads throughout ‘Bleu Ciel’ add a sense of panic and unrest, while ‘Catch Me’ showcases a zipping electro production armed with tough metallic drums, softened by Davina’s captivating vocals. ‘Andromeda’ and ‘Ultra Neon’ shift towards resonant, melodic journeys, whilst the sleek ‘Midnight Man’ offers up visions of late-night drives through neon-lit landscapes. ‘Shapes & Oddity’ then interjects and interrupts the calm with a tough, dark trip, before closing via the unwinding, hypnotic wormhole of indie leaning closer ‘Mentally Naked’, featuring Chicks On Speed.

As a first major statement since her 2018 debut album Hermetica, Perel, the newest addition to the Kompakt family, delivers her startling new single “Real”. Perel gets face to face with the world as it is now: “Has the world always been that gloomy?Or is it just a cataract? Maybe I’ll just wake up tomorrow from a deep sleep and then all of this isn’t real.". Tellingly, Perel deals with this the best way she knows how, essaying a lush, melancholy paean, wrenched from the soul, and lit up by her unabashed love of synth pop and electronic music.

Perel broke cover when she was signed up to James Murphy’s legendary DFA label, with whom she released a string of lovely singles and her debut album, Hermetica, a gorgeous, deeply dreamy collection of songs, some featuring her Nico-esque smoky singing voice. Balancing her singular productions with a career as an in-demand DJ, Perel’s come a long way from her early years, growing up in Saxony as a youth in love with the sounds of new wave and gothic pop.

Recent EPs “Karlsson” (Uncanny Valley, 2019) and “Star” (Running Back, 2021) consolidate an impression of an artist with a singular, unswayable vision. But “Real” is something else. There are hints here of Moroder-esque disco, in the pinprick arpeggio that percolates through the song, and of the Berlin School of electronic music, in the lush synths. You can still hear touches of post-punk and Neue Deutsche Welle, too, in “Real”’s moody countenance, and Perel’s vocals, but it’s all delivered with the knowing insouciance that’s fundamental to any great pop moment.

Riven with desire and despair, “Real” is a hymnal sigh for a world unmade. “I sometimes feel so disconnected from the world,” Perel sighs. “To me, it’s hard to ignore the problems of the world in order to experience any happiness or joy. It eats you from the inside.” But Perel fights on: “Despite, there’s so much to be grateful about.”

The indie dance and leftfield techno magicians Radial Gaze join the Urge
To Dance family after remarkable releases for labels such as TAU, Feines
Tier, Calypso and Eskimo. The Saint Petersburg-based project is
accompanied by Thomass Jackson and Zombies in Miami on remix duties for the mesmerizingly exotic “In Each Other” EP.

The leading track, In Each Other, is a multi-layered and infectiously
danceable combination of addictive bassline, magical Cameroonian drums, Amazonian percussions and mystical marimbas creating a mysterious and exotic track.

The long-running Kompakt imprint will release an EP by German DJ and producer Sascha Funke in September. Sharing five tracks that traverse quirky house and techno, Treets marks Funke’s monumental return to Kompakt since his Zug um Zug two-tracker in 2014.

Speaking about Treets, Funke says he is "very happy to be back on the mothership Kompakt" after an eight-year break. As one would expect with Funke, the EP fits the cosmic world of Kompakt to a tee. The title track conveys a weird, tripped-out atmosphere as an alien-like vocal burbles between an acid bassline and squeaky percussion. It's a tantalising glimpse of Funke's freaky underworld. E_Plus follows a similar wonked-out vein, only this time, the vibe is ominous. Funke pairs an orchestral vocal with bleepy pads and signature acid-drenched melody — a solid offering oddball of energy. On Alles Paletti, a 2-step drum pattern and string of bright claps create a sunny soundscape, complemented by a robust bassline and ethereal synth notes. It's fairytale house music, the kind only Funke can produce. The penultimate track Haus More is subdued, as chugging drums slither between a wobbly melody. The Other Version feels futuristic, as Funke goes full-force electro. Extra-terrestrial vocals return, but the pace is cranked up by strident sound FX and thudding drums. An eccentric end to an eccentric EP.

Sascha Funke is a Berlin-based producer and DJ with two decades' worth of releases building his back catalogue. BPitch Control, Turbo Recordings, Endless Flight, Running Back, and several more esteemed imprints have released his work. Today, he continues to create sleek sounds that weave various genres from house, techno, disco, Krautrock, wave, electro and unclassified anomalies. As a DJ, Funke is just as free-wheeling as his productions. He's played E1 in London, Caos in São Paulo and Renate in Berlin, amongst others, displaying his sweeping sound to a worldwide audience. Having been exposed to euro-dance pop as a youngster, you can hear flashes from the genre stitched throughout his work but blended in a way that's quintessential to Funke. Never one to change his sound according to the latest trend, Funke stays true to his creative vision — one of the most significant challenges for producers today.

Party Yea

AEON is nearing its 50th release. Before we touch that big number, we would like to share a fine record by the honcho himself, Alex Niggemann. The inspiration behind this release was found in experimenting with a vocoder. Alex explains: “society might have us all as robots if we didn’t take care to be open minded - both musically and in general. That was the inspiration and it was great fun to make.”. A view that fits the current zeitgeist perfectly.
The futuristic theme is felt from the offset, as the forward-thinking sound of „Like A Robot“ gets underway. Reverberating beats blend into echoing machine-like vocal samples, before chiming keys give way to a stunning lead synth that feels both emotive and danceable in one. The vocoded vocals meeting a plea to replace the human race with robots, cause the track to have a rather dystopian notion. 
The ‘Technology’ vibe is inspired by late 80ies breakbeat tracks. Once the beat is in full range with the sparkling & upclimbing synths, pictures of vintage B-boys & girls videos, making their acrobatic dance moves, are projected in our minds. A slight twist brings the classic Juno 6 lead synth characterizing the main part.  
For the remix, AEON invited Fabrizio Mammarella, who’s known from his release on DFA, Permanent Vaca- tion or Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondent as well as his collaborations with Lauer as Black Spuma. Mam- marella’s version of ‘Technology’ transforms the break beats in a solid 4 to the floor groove, while the more electro sounding bassline of the original is replaced with a classic Italo inspired synth sequencer that un- doubtedly will please the crowd on the dancefloor. 
The last original track of this EP is called ‘Shepherds’ named after those who control. Poignant strings dive in and out, while the constant loopy groove could bring back memories of musically inspired „Moroder“ nights at good old Studio 54. 
The 49th release on AEON is again a complete pack by the Berlin label.

Captain Mustache is a French music producer and DJ from Paris.

Since 2020, he made releases on some of the greatest labels of the scene: Kompakt, Mobilee, Exploited, Permanent Vacation, Helena Hauff's Return To Disorder, and an album on John Digweed's Bedrock Records, with a constant support from the best DJ's in the world.

As a true electronic music lover, he worked with some electro idols (Dave Clarke, Arnaud Rebotini, Chicks on Speed, The Advent, Keith Tucker from AUX88...) to bring an extra vocal dimension to his music.

In 2023 came the consecration with a full album called "The Super Album" on legendary label KOMPAKT Records, with the priviliege to join the short list of artists having signed a LP on this label, such as Kolsch, Gui Boratto, Agents Of Time or WhoMadeWho.

He's now acclaimed for some hit songs:
