The seeds for this exciting collaboration between Nick Warren and Guy Mantzur were sown a long time ago during snatched conversations at airport terminals, online and at various shows around the world. But, their hectic schedules has meant that patience has been a necessary virtue when it came to actually finding time to work together on this new project. However, the final product – “Sad Robot” – for John Digweed’s Bedrock label has definitely been worth the wait!

This sparkling gem of a track pushes all the right buttons: a low-slung, percussive groove backbone, peppered with twisted vocal snippets and an ebb and flow of euphoric attitude that only comes from years of experience of rocking the best dancefloors around the world week in week out. With added excitement in the form of an energetic, throbbing monster of a remix by Musumeci (aka Sicilian DJ/Producer Mauro Di Martino) – this new package from Bedrock is set to fly.

Nick Warren has just recently returned from another successful tour of South America, and is currently working with production partner Jody Wisternoff on a new Way Out West album. Meanwhile, Guy Mantzur has forthcoming releases lined up on Kompakt and Lost & Found. This first meeting of musical minds for Bedrock has proved such a creative success, we can only hope they find time for more collaborations like this in the future.

Flow Vinyl’s second summer release is a collaboration between Darin Epsilon and Tom Sela. Darin Epsilon from Los Angeles needs little introduction, and he combines a hectic international DJ schedule with productions on many of the best labels. For his debut release on Flow Vinyl, Darin joined forces with regular studio partner Tom Sela to create Lapis Lazuli, a breezy, percussive track that subtly takes hold of the listener. A vocal sample rests on top of a complex array of percussion, including a deliciously sweet marimba, while other sounds drift in and out of the mix. Less is more with ‘Lapis Lazuli’, and it’s sure to become a firm favourite at beach parties and open-air events this summer. The international remix package starts with Hungary and Lank who gives ‘Lapis Lazuli’ a tougher tech edge while still retaining its original dreamy quality. Next up is Andre Sobota from São Paulo who has released a string of well received tracks on labels like microCastle Music and Pryda Friends. The Brazilian producer delivers a remix in his trademark driving, big room style. DNYO, also from São Paulo, completes the picture with a darker, bass-heavy late night version.

"Yutori" is a Japanese word which means the feeling of slowing down and having the space to breathe, relax and connect, which sums up perfectly the feeling I had when making this track and that which I hope is conveyed to the listener.

With a release archive stretching back over 20 years, including EPs on Rekids, NRK, Cocoon, Flash and Gigolo; its fair to say that Artform boss and respected veteran of the scene, Jamie Anderson, has been there, seen it and got the label t-shirt.

Or has he? Because today signals a first for the Berlin based Brit, as he makes his Bedrock debut with a deadly new double-header, Event Horizon / Bahia.

An electronic chameleon, Jamie is as adept within the realms of deep house as he is turning out titanic techno. His brace for Bedrock explores the space between the two. Event Horizon with its dancing synth, straight kick and rasping hats is backed by the deep throbbing groove of Bahia's tribal toms and stabbing keys.

Darren Emerson twists his own groove on the remix of Event Horizon. Accentuating the kick, he roughens and chops the original synth to create a raw and hypnotic swing. Impressive work and a fine addition to Anderson's first Bedrock outing.

The Miami native's relentless passion for underground '90s electro and techno resounds in "Aire". The rise of @patrice-baumel since last's years now ironically titled "Surge" (KOMEX89) has been steady for good reason - positivity, passion and a lot of hard work. With his days as a resident of TROUW well behind him and now a key member of the KOMPAKT family, he has had what one would call a breakthrough year. There's that remix of CUBICOLOR that was nearly impossible to avoid. Then there's been a steady stream of remixes for SASHA & POLIÇA, MAX COOPER, DAMIAN LAZARUS and DEPECHE MODE. Oh yeah, he's also become a part of the AFTERLIFE crew and put out an EP called "Glutes". Welcome to "Sorcery" - a catch and release techno roller that ripens with a fundamental percussion lead.

Booka Shade deliver their Rosebud EP for John Digweeds Bedrock imprint this November, featuring three new original tracks from the Berlin duo.

Blaufield Music founders Booka Shade have long been respected figures in the contemporary electronic music scene having racked up a handful of crossover cuts amongst their regular output aimed towards more underground realms. Here we see them focusing on the latter with a new EP for the esteemed Bedrock label, headed up by John Digweed and home to material from the likes of Guy Gerber, Guy J, Eagles & Butterflies and of course the label founder himself.

Booka Shade : "We have been extremely fortunate in our careers having our music released on many revered and renowned labels. We are particularly humbled and proud to have DJ legend John Digweed pick three of our tracks for a release on Bedrock."

Title-track Rosebud leads with an amalgamation of dark and brooding bass tones, percussive chimes and a bubbling arpeggio lead at its core whilst ethereal voices and resonant leads ebb and flow within.

Lust 2.1 follows with the focus on tension building atmospherics, metallic percussive rolls echoing vocal chops before marimba like synth tones and chugging arpeggios take the spotlight to tail out the composition.

In Velvet then rounds out the package with elongated subs, sweeping atmospherics and a choppy synth sequence all dynamically evolving and unfolding around an organic drum groove driving the composition.
