Keeping it widescreen throughout and the percussion pulls focus. At times slick and sultry, at others more ominous and ill-tempered, we’re dishing out high-velocity dynamics across four distinct trax. Constantly nudging towards the peak-time, but with plenty of breathy sensuality and dappled melody as he flexes a detailed, sound-sensitive approach.

Drums, drums and more drums. You know the deal by now: direct torque in full effect as we traverse the rugged, funked-out and percussive. Plenty of trippy flourish for good measure too, from humid fusions of rainforest FX and hallucinatory detail to light trail synths punching through inky abyss.

It all recalls Terry Francis and his Housey Doingz project at the peak of their powers - big stabs, big forward momentum. Think the golden era of their Wiggle parties circa 1999.

An immersive energy permeates ‘Cloud Like Dreams’. The main feature is a deep, crackling bass fizzling like an exposed electrical cord. In this kinetic soup, cosmic synths swim, their radiant melodies complementing the massive main-room engine. Once the breakdown appears, a sample enquires, “Are you attracted to me?”—and yes… this dancefloor magnetism is undeniable. This is a slow-building force that keeps ascending, a nuclear reactor on the verge of erupting.

It’s become a bit of a tradition down Selador way that our much-loved Showcase releases produce break out tracks that generate a right old buzz and get a stand-alone release. And lo, it’s Lonya’s turn to join that select company.

‘Ultimate Sin’ first saw the light of day on the mixed version of our Showcase 20 release, premiered by a somewhat excited Dave Seaman & Anthony Pappa. Instantly turning heads and leading to oodles of “when can I get my hands on that beauty?” messages pinging their way to HQ, rather than release it on one of the subsequent unmixed EPs, we challenged Lonya to give us another track of equal stature to create a dynamite double header.

Not only did he do just that, but he only went and roped in his pal SNYL. The resulting collab ‘Synthetic Dreams’ is a propulsive, acid-peppered call to dancefloor action. The very definition of heads down, let’s go business as a mesmeric vocal wail sits atop an hypnotic groove that just doesn’t let go. Synthetic by name, but as real as electronic music gets in nature.

And ‘Ultimate Sin’? All we can say is, if you’re familiar with Dave and Anthony’s mix, you know what’s coming, and will be suitably bubbling over with anticipation. And if not…well folks, a sonic treat awaits. Just let the riff draw you in, pull you all over the shop, and take up residence in your twisted but oh so grateful cranium. Masterful.

Paul Rose is the man behind Scuba, an alias which has shaped the sound of the European underground for two decades. In its early years, he pioneered a new take on dubstep and then made a subtle shift from bass music into house and techno. Scuba’s ‘Digital Underground’ album in 2023 saw him take things one step further into raved-up hardcore and breakbeat, and his Music Not Diving podcast is a fascinating interview series with plenty of the scene's key players.

Now he debuts on Sasha's label, a fitting pairing as he credits the label boss’s support for his Adrenalin EP in 2011 as having played a key role in his move towards house and techno. Here he showcases his flair for melody across a pair of richly musical and immersive new tracks that land perfectly in time for summer.

The fantastic 'Animatronic' has been an exclusive mystery staple of Scuba sets for a while and is a mid-tempo groover with a meandering lead line that is brought to life with bright, prickly synth modulations. The chunky drums are underpinned by signature bass, and a spine-tingling breakdown has heavenly vocals peaking through the clouds.

The pace picks up on the sleek 'Waterfloor', which is a subtle tribute to Berlin’s recently shuttered but forever legendary Watergate club. It has a calming serenity to its widescreen atmosphere as soft hits, clicks, and melodic droplets pepper the mix. Sleek bass powers the drums, and cosmic pads keep things decidedly heady and doused in emotion.

Coming from the finest Reggae production team in Japan Bim One has remixed all-time roots classic Pablo Gad’s Hard Times to the contempolary  stepper style. The original tune was released in 1980 and it’s has been a permanent fixture on dance floors and in record collections worldwide ever since. Nearly 4 decades on from the release, this is the first official remix authorized by Pablo Gad himself.
B-side has one-drop style riddim featuring upcoming Singjay from Barcelona Sr Wilson with an instrumental version. All tunes have been mixed, tested and received with several Reggae soundsystems so it's guaranteed to be a smash when selectors drop it on dance floors globally.
