Both respected players of progressive scene, Cid Inc and Dmitry Molosh have enjoyed exciting careers. Producer, DJ and Mastering Engineer, Swedish powerhouse, Cid Inc has releases on a whos who of labels and has played at all the leading clubs and festivals. Equally, Belarusian pioneer Dmitry has been trailblazing for nearly a decade and continues to have a gig diary taking him around the world. 

Opening with the title track, 'Impending Storm', the pairs unique influences find a perfect middle ground in subtle tribal drumwork. Gathering pace slowly over the first half with some nuanced layering, the track really fires off as the main break hits. With tension building throughout, the second half is trademark peak time. 

Next up, 'Coalition' takes a deeper path. Twinkling arps and rising pads draw you in as the percussive underbelly becomes more pronounced. Proper journey prog, the sonic tale they unfold keeps you hooked until the final beat. Finally, Dutch favorite, Navar reimagines 'Impending Storm'. Sub heavy drums and a skippy percussion framework clever sonic reconstruction, as Navar takes us down a dark, late night trail full of dirty synths and grimey intentions.

From his home on Australia’s south-eastern coast, Mike Rish has witnessed an impressive rise to notoriety, courtesy of a clutch of high-profile releases on an exclusive set of blue-chip labels. Not wanting to flood the progressive house scene with a swathe of formulaic dance music, the Melbourne resident’s “selective output” is based on a carefully thought-out commitment to “keep people engaged, but also wanting more”. Thus, Rish’s work for the likes of Colorize, Serendeep and Juicebox Music, has seen the Australian carve out a sizeable niche for himself, further enhanced by March 2021’s 12-track “Interlinked” album for UGENIUS Music.

Opening his Meanwhile account with the “Beyond” title track, a chunky beat and cavernous bass groove sit tightly against off-beat hats and snare. Filtering into sonic range, an elegant arpeggio provides glorious melodic interplay as white-noise washes and meandering pads pulse gently across the near 10-minute piece. Full of spine-tingling atmosphere, additional melodic phrasing is introduced at the breakdown before extending into the third movement with ease, combined with a raft of effects and masterful touches.

A bouncing bass groove immediately finds “Mindgame” oozing with hypnotic force and low-end menace. Sat perfectly in between deep kick and ticking hats, a flowing melodic line ripples across proceedings as it rises and falls with filtered dynamism. Twisted vocal cuts and acetylene-edged synth effects pitch with glissando range adding to the aural collage in a track full of dark and mesmerising beauty.

Closing the EP, “Here For You” is characterised by an intricate percussive arrangement that introduces a subtle melodic backdrop. Effects and textured pads span the stereo stage in modulated glory as a pulsating lead melody enters the fray in the second movement. Building steadily before revealing itself fully in the stripped back breakdown, the second half blossoms in commanding fashion with a pulsating confluence of rhythm and melody. The result is a track that illustrates Mike Rish’s unique talent and technique.

A musical triptych full of innovation and sonic narrative, Mike Rish has gone above and “Beyond” with a glittering display of production prowess.

Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Nopi back to the label for his first solo project. Ukrainian artist Nopi brings a surreal beauty to his innovative brand of electronic composition. His colourful synth leads, exotic percussive arrangements and smooth, dancefloor minded grooves have made for a sound that is all his own. Emerging in 2019, Nopi has enjoyed a three-year creative swell, earning the praise of electronic music tastemakers such as Behrouz, Guy J, Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sebastian Leger and more; while All Day I Dream, Do Not Sit and TRYBESof have served as landing spots for his transcendent sound. Having made his Replug debut in 2020 with a collaborative project alongside progressive music star Dmitry Molosh, Nopi now returns to the trailblazing imprint for his first solo effort entitled ‘Nature In The Home'. 

Continuing to tread the waters between progressive and organic house, Nopi leans closer to the former on first track ‘Nature In The Mountains After Mushrooms'. A dizzying dance floor slam powered by potent kick drums and hyperspace effects. Rather than burst into a whirlwind or electronic symphony, Nopi delivers tension through slow burn repetition, dodging expectations and emphasizing his conceptual charm, painting bucolic scenes of solitude, as hypnagogic effects unveil a semi-conscious dreamland, before the Ukrainian's creative attitude reveals itself during an interlude of colourful synth swagger and mesmerizing progression. 

Beneath the powerful tidal waves of 'Nature In The Mountains After Mushrooms' lies the spellbinding realities of 'Mistake Forest'. Packed to the hilt with drama and emotion, its adventurous spirit is something Nopi relishes in, as he flexes a trance-inducing side of his studio repertoire. A genuine exchange of melody and texture provide the narrative, where themes of introspection and hope get translated by fuzzed out vocal fragments, thought-provoking musicality and machine-gun style grooves. 

Continuing on a similar monochrome are the nostalgic qualities of the collection's final selection 'Capadocia'. Profoundly idyllic, it's a composition that further cements Nopi's elusive vision, as its buoyant beginnings morph into a meditative, consciousness-expanding conversion of musical ideas. Dark rebounding rhythms and rolling basslines set the course for rustic hooks, prismatic effects and metallic arps, which ultimately puts a stamp on this thematic collection from one of progressive music's rising mavericks.
