Lliwia means Colours. It's a song written about childbirth. All the colours you can see when you close your eyes and the instant love that you feel for this soul that comes out. 

Tincian is 9Bach's second album. It's an atmospheric, emotional record that reflects their home environment of Gerlan, North Wales. As Lisa Jen explains, 'tincian can mean a lot of things, to move with a tinkling sound, to ring and make a clear sound. Depending on what area of Wales you are from, the meaning varies. It comes to life in dialogue when you use sentences like "I gave him such a talking to, he didn't know what had hit him...he was 'tincian'." It's almost like a cartoon image of someone's head being hit by a hammer'.

The DownBeat Blindfold Test is a listening test that challenges the featured artist to identify and discuss the music and musicians who perform on selected recordings. The artist is then asked to rate each tune using a 5-star system. No information is given to the artist prior to the test. 

The Monterey Jazz Festival has hosted live DownBeat Blindfold tests since 1996, and are moderated by Dan Ouellette. In 1997, for the 40th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival, bassist Charlie Haden was the blindfold artist.

Recorded in Dizzy's Den at the 40th Monterey Jazz Festival, at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California, September 21, 1997. Moderated by Dan Ouellette.

Balanescu Quartet is an avant-garde string quartet founded in 1987 by Alexander Balanescu that achieved fame through the release of several complex re-interpretations of songs by Kraftwerk and collaborations with Michael Nyman, David Byrne and Goldfrapp amongs others.
