I’ve always been curious of patterns in structure. 
Any alignment of wholeness inside another. 
We’re all so different — But exactly the same. 
It’s how we interpret meaning that divides the space. 

Between you, and I, and everybody, 
on every side — of an invisible line.  
hiding our bodies from our minds.

So we hold back, then have to paint it black, 
erase it all, everything.
Shade the middle with white, 
till there’s nothing but “gray-ness” in between. 
You and me — As far as the eye can see 

But darkness is just the absence of light. 
And I swear I saw a flicker of it in your eyes. 
Flecks of gold line the surface where your iris meets the white. 
But I’m out of excuses and the reasons behind.
It doesn’t matter anymore.
Only gravity decides how the stars will align. 

And I don’t know why I didn’t say anything at the time. 
I thought about it, 
but couldn’t get the words to come out right. 

So I held back, then had to paint it black, 
erase it all, everything.

You’ll always be my first catch — First walk around the bases.
First trip to Candlestick — First nickname, “Aces.”
I guess this is just how life happens — 
With time moving faster than I ever could have imagined.

Even though that was light years ago — You’re still the only wholeness i’ve ever known. 

And if this was a baseball game,
I’d always pick your team — If you’ll have me — 
You told me once — I could be anything — 
But that’s a dangerous thing to believe. 

I hope you know, i’m so grateful —
For everything, you’ve ever done for me — 
I had no idea how hard it would be — 
Promise you won’t give up on me? 
Now that I see — Not every kid was as lucky as me.
