Been Away takes a stripped down, moody approach to a cover of 90's industrial rock band Stabbing Westward's solid anthem masterpiece "Shame".

Been Away is the alternative electro rock duo of Ivie Lewis and Derek Lewis, based out of Toronto. Melted synthesizers with dance beats and guitar, influenced by both shoegaze and industrial rock, form Been Away’s sound backdrop for Ivie’s pop style vocals. 
Been Away has been compared to fellow Canadian musicians Metric as well as Shiny Toy Guns and Blondie. It’s easy to see those comparisons when you look at Been Away’s diverse playlists full of influences such as The Cure, Drab Majesty, Stabbing Westward, White Lies and Lights.
Ivie and Derek have been writing and producing music for over 10 years. Following the disbanding of their previous group, 9yrs, the two chose to reclaim the music process and started creating under the name Been Away, inspired by a lyric from the song “Duel” by Swervedriver.
Their upcoming EP entitled “Arcs & Circles” is a story arc in a cycle of love and loss, both musically and personally. The first single “The Hard Way” is dedicated to anyone who has ever learned anything (yep, you guessed it) the hard way.
