Jamming with Dual Benjolin. In the first minute, I used a wet Eventide Time, and the rest is just raw Benjolin jamming... I made the mistake of plugging the MixPre-II recorder into a different phase, which produced a 4kHz+ hiss. Nevertheless, I hope the jam will still give some impression about the versatility and unpredictability of the machine. The range function produces long "pseudorandom" loops that create short stepped patterns of variable length and speed (up to 40 seconds). Rob Hordijk explains that it is "a CMOS shift register clocked by one oscillator and receiving its data input from the other oscillator". Benjolin Jamming

A site-specific open mic with an emphatic atmospheric composition of field recordings and ambiental electroacoustic sounds. The wind, a planetary organism, has no sound of its own. It produces it when in contact with other organisms. The wrinkled surface of the planet is the wind's vocal cord, like countless needles on a globular soundboard. It catches in taut strings, roars in tubes, whistles through cracks in buildings, blows away tiny grains of sand and rustles on soft surfaces. The rapid and persistent swirling of airwaves circles the land and oceans in less than a day. Every atom in the atmosphere changes its place, every breath in followed by a breath out. The wind moves with the heat and today it has a fever.

Software Defined Radio (SDR) detects sound by an antenna and converts it with an analog-to-digital device to a data-stream. The process of reading the signal and transformation is mostly inaccurate since it picks up a lot of of interferences, undesired by developers of analog-to-digital protocol. The AMonFM / SDR track harvests such sonic disruption and unclear frequencies caused by physical processes such as electromagnetic resonance. It reveals the unpredictable beauty of analogue sound sources.

AMonFM / SDR

To this day, this is my most beautiful melodic electromagnetic citation of light installation by Kurt Laurenz Theinert: Gespinst. It was recorded by EM coil detector. The installation was exhibited at the 2012 Lighting Guerrilla Festival in Ljubljana and consists of blinking ultra thin neon lights that emit electromagnetic pulses. Electromagnetic Beauty

Underground acceleration was recorded by the use of an electromagnetic coil detector on the JZ train in New York during a one-month artistic residency. The raw sound of the underground is a psychogeographical portrait of the never releasing tension of capitalist accelerationism.

Chill & Grill XVI

Chromodynamics variation from Noise for Strings at Chill & Grill XVI (2019)

Dynamical processes with analogue synths, computer manipulations and textures from field recordings. The dynamics of fluids is ordered by a system of self-organisation. The sounds are not created, they are discovered, much like in modular synthesis, in which the instrument has its own self-organisational logic.

The performance was part of the FriForma series for improvised music, produced by http://kudmreza.org (Nataša Serec and Laszlo Juhasz). The event also encluded the sound pieces of Manja Ristić and Robertina Šebjanič and our group improvisation Sounds from the Earthsea.

The track is from a live performance on the 30th edition of IGNOR – Platform for Literature, Sounding and Performance. It is based on Noise for Strings, Vol.1 album. It also contains fragments of spoken words from my old radio archive and words of wise women I've interviewed over 10 years ago. A sound artist and archivist, making immersive psychogeographical spatial compositions with electronics, code, analogue synthesisers, and field recordings. I primarily explore sound ecology and spatialisation, addressing themes such as the agency of non-organic others, non-human animal languages, and listening to the inaudible. A member of the Jata C group for bioacoustics and sound ecologies, the Clockwork Voltage community, and the CENSE Network. Publishing with Kamizdat label.
