Joe Nice Fundraiser Mix

A mix made for the We Keep Us Safe block party in amiskwacîwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ) or Edmonton as a counter-action to the "freedom" trucker convoy. The mix features sample clips from speeches given by indigenous activists and scholars, including John Trudell, Haunani-Kay Trask, and Lee Maracle. While mixing as spr0ut, they focused on the niche of midtempo psy-bass and trap-inspired left-field bass, which definitely still flavours their mixes. BeePM believes in the power of sound to transform, release, energize, connect, uplift, heal, and connect us deeper to ourselves, each other, our ancestors, our earthly kin, and to the sacred frequencies of mother earth and the stars.

Bee is a queer nonbinary DJ of Irish, Scottish, English & French ancestry and is living as a settler descendant on the traditional treaty & non-ceded territory of Turtle Island, currently in amiskwacîwâskahikan or Beaver Hills House in Treaty 6 territory, the traditional lands & gathering place of Cree, Stoney-Lakota, Dene, Metis, and other indigenous peoples for millenia. Bee works to uphold Treaty values and support indigenous sovereignty & Land Back movements.
