The Beethoven Was African project is supported by an album which faithfully renders LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN’s music as it should have been played.

By re-focusing the longstanding debate surrounding LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN’s origins on the core question - his music - the collective hopes to provide a different lens, perhaps the original one, with which to appreciate his legacy.  The apparent polyrhythmics, originally crafted by LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN into the scores, have been left unplayed and unheard since his demise - until now.

An upcoming phase of the Beethoven Was African project, available upon subscription, will detail the scholarly approach.

With the illusion created by the master himself, the fundamental question of his identity - personal and musical - persists. This shift in perception and acceptance of his origins could radically change the way we hear and transmit the cultural heritage of LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN.
