Life Without You

When we swapped some tracks, Beez put these lyrics to an instrumental I was working on, probably my best track at the time. 
When I heard him rap 'I just wanna make my dad proud' I knew something profound had just happened.

I've struggled with my relationship with my dad for as long as I can remember - to the point that I've been estranged from him for years. Because of that, I struggled and failed at being the dad I needed to be. Instead, I repeated my own childhood but this time playing the part of my dad. 

I know what Beez is saying, I lived the message in this waiata. 

This track is a reworking of the one that Beez sent me, not the instrumental I mentioned earlier - that'll probably be the first track that we'll produce together from scratch, when the time is right.
