A Path Less Traveled

Deadmans Pass

I’m dedicating this track to my mate and guitarist of this band Lee Hughes who is currently in hospital waiting on a bypass. So best wishes to a great guitarist & bloke please make a speedy recovery. 
We wrote this song back in 1998 after I was reading an article about Richard Branson’s new record label V2.
The article referred to the fact that V2 had signed 60 bands to the new label. Stereophonics was one of those bands and I have no idea who the other 59 were.
It also referred to the fact it was like catching 60 flies in a jar and seeing which one escaped to make the big time.
Obviously Stereophonics was the fly who escaped. 
It all seemed farcical and ridiculous to me that all them bands signed their lives away only to be dropped so quickly.
This Elegant Chaos was on a small independent label selling 500 albums a month unknown to us. 
The label took the money and we only found out 20 years later how much the label made. We never seen a penny.
I was sent an audit form of sales because the label wanted to use some tracks of their best selling artists for a compilation album to celebrate 30 years. 
To say I was shocked was an understatement! 
This industry is shark infested waters that you rarely miss getting bitten. 
The middle eight refers to this after reading another article by Ian Brown talking about the music industry & the split from The Stone Roses and how we are lambs to the slaughter. 
We used a sample on the track from Bros’s When Will I Be Famous and reversed it right at the beginning & again later un reversed. 
If my memory serves me well we only ever played this live once in Bradford at a gig for a music magazine. I totally lost my way and ending up rolling around on stage to deflect from my vocal performance lol. I’m sure the band & audience thought I had lost the plot and I probably did but Happy days !

A heavy djent instrumental driven by tight, low-tuned rhythm guitars and precise, percussive grooves.

All the snow has melted here.
I was watching the grey sky and observing the clouds from the window.
Then suddenly I grabbed my guitar with a wish to record the acoustic version of my song "Elliott".
I think that finally I found my sound!
It rarely happens to me that I am satisfied with my voice, but this recording really makes me feel good and proud.

is a one-man band, created and produced entirely by me—JC—in my basement studio. I've been playing guitar for years and recently decided to share my music online.
