remember: 1. recognize wholesome or unwholesome 2. being present in the moment

sometimes the reflection "this is for my own affliction" is not enough

sense desire arised... seduction was too great.. and pattern repeated many times... 10'000 times... what wisdom can be applied? "Enough!"

Cut it with a sword of wisdom, not just wise reflection. Meet the seductive energy with strong enough energy of wisdom in mind.  The key is hoe we Wield the sword with understanding, not aversion or anger.  "Seen this million times, enough"

Be creative  Sometimes it helps to recognize unskilful, Sometimes... Wise reflection Sometimes... we have to engage with a sword

In summary: 1. wholesome or unwholesome, 2. Be in present with what is arising, 3. what is the right strategy for being mindful in that situation. Extra: 4. Recognize the attitude

As the founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for mindfulness in Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical school, Jon Kabat-Zinn's career has been focused on research in mindfulness. His practice as a student under such teachers as Thich Nhat Hanh and Seung Sahn and his continued daily contemplative practice led him to a long career as he developed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and defining mindfulness as "awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally". He is currently a board member of the Mind and Life Institute and Professor of Medicine Emeritus.

She is the co-author of “Love Your Enemies.” Her other books include “Lovingkindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness,” “Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation,” and “Real Happiness at Work: Meditations for Accomplishment, Achievement, and Peace.”

Robert Thurman is the president of the Tibet House U.S. and the co-author of “Love Your Enemies.” His latest book is “Man of Peace,” an illustrated biography of the Dalai Lama.
