This set was mixed while Lucy S. Cargo (@lucythesnail) traveled (slowly) with an intimate group of friends through deep playa towards a (boring) sunrise. Through a night warmed by company (and movement), they danced as the sun came up on the horizon. May the vibrations that carried them into that fantastic morning also bring you home. “Where do breaks, techno, and tech house crossover? What can Germany teach us about Detroit? What kind of Dirty Birds fly to Ibiza? Can something be both tasteful and dirty? And what snyth doesn’t sound better with a dirty break under it??

My goal was to use the incredible honor of being included on Ripe Cast to play with genres and paint a different kind of picture. I wove a few of my all time favorite breaks tracks together with some new techno hotness, and mashed up others into genre bending behemoths.  The set overall has notes of bouncy, funky, dark, spacious, and, most importantly, smashing. You gotta smash on the Ripe Cast.

This set was so fun to make! Thank you so much, Space Cowboys, for the platform and opportunity. I truly appreciate it and hope all y’all enjoy the music!”

Live recording! I had the pleasure of playing the midnight slot at the FnF Fall Freak Fest campout just outside Yosemite. Played some tech house bangers in a beautiful setting on a killer sound system (waveworks) and unreal visuals from Radiant Atmospheres. Bit techier than usual for me, but it's still got that kem signature sound and mxing.

Here's my first recorded set. It earned me $25! As I sit back and grin (and let hte money roll right in). In the beautiful Mendocino national forest with my fave ppl in the world! Was a lot of fun! Played a bunch of old records I've been collecting, mostly thrift store moldy shit.  Got so much love from the paper towelettes (my fans). Please give it a chance thru the 2nd track I was waiting for the twilight zone theme to drop and it never did.. ENJOIZ!

Six or seven tracks recorded live in 2018. All Eurorack and improvised. The first ten minutes or so sounds good on headphones or very loud and the second to last track is a minimal banger that i'm really happy about. Since it's sliced out of live recordings the endings are a little abrupt. Sorry about that, I wanted to get a bunch of different feels into one hour.

Bassben RIPEcast Live @ IAND-BOC 2019

I had the honor of playing MAKE WAVES, the Rhythm Society's spring equinox celebration; an event hosted aboard the USS Hornet (CV-12) docked in Alameda.  In addition to its primary purpose as a WWII aircraft carrier, the Hornet was used to retrieve Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong when they returned to earth following their first moon exploration!  The ship is a combination war-time aircraft and 1960's era space memorabilia museum.

We were granted access to the ship at Noon, had the entire event set up by 9pm (including large-scale sound, lighting, art), opened the doors to over a thousand invitees who (mostly) stayed straight through the night till the last note dropped at dawn.  Following a quick closing ceremony, a swarm of volunteers dismantled, packed, cleaned, and left no trace just two hours later.  This was a massive effort with massive production values, executed with a lot of effort in a way that seemed effortless. Big ups to this amazing community!
