CMD aka Corina MacDonald is a Montreal-based DJ, producer and host of the program Modular Systems on CKUT 90.3 FM. She has released on JACKTONE, EXPERIMENTAL HOUSEWIFE’S PERFECT LOCATION RECORDS, FUR TRADE RECORDINGS, and BASIC_SOUNDS. For her vinyl debut, “Social Factory Reset”, she brings us four entrancing, slightly dubby and acidic techno dance floor cuts perfect for the smooth edges of the late night.

The A-side opens up with the title track “Social Factory Reset”, modular jacking techno with an infectious acid swell and patient pads. “Shaping Inner Space” is an apt title. The tempo is slightly faster than A1, and it sounds like an extraterrestrial night out. Euphoric synth twists bring in the break while the bass drum toys with the rhythm only to zap it back home with the force of cosmic gravity.

“Dream-Life Cycles” opens up the B-side tough, with an acid line and bass drum syncopation sure to bring out the stomp. Modular tweets fire off in stereo; lush pads bring in the harmony; and a nuanced and pleasantly surprising vocal line brings the euphoria on home. “Body Locked” closes the EP with an athletic, cosmic techno track that doesn’t shy away from the trance palette. Step out of your body and onto the dance floor!

Following two stand-out EPs on the techno-focussed Rekids Special Projects throughout 2021, the Venezuelan-born, Bogota-based Confidential Recipe readies his debut appearance on parent-label Rekids. With three killer originals, including a collaboration with Manao and accompanied by a remix from Gene Richards Jr, the EP solidifies Confidential Recipe’s growing vitality in the South American techno scene and beyond.

‘Dance’ leads the ‘The Bridge EP’, with commanding vocals, organ licks and knocking drums preceding a dramatic tempo change in the breakdown. Fresh off the back of releases Truncate’s WRKTRX, Gene Richards Jr flips ‘Dance’ into a funk-laden techno pumper, with the vocals sliced and manipulated around fresh dub techno inspired chords.

On the flip, ‘Come (Dub Mix)’ kicks off the B side, marrying shimmering pads, razor-sharp kicks, and trance-inducing low end for a deep and rolling cut. Rounding out the EP is ‘Come (Breaks Mix)’ produced in collaboration with Berlin-based Manao, and sees the duo add dense breakbeats, rave stabs, and heaving sub hits over elements of the original for a rowdy affair.

UK techno legend Mark Broom returns to Rekids Special Projects with Vol. 2 of his ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series.

Following the acclaimed ‘Funfzig LP’ on Rekids earlier this year, as well as the first volume of ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’, UK stalwart Mark Broom returns to the Rekids universe with another set of eight fully charged techno bombs for Radio Slave’s techno-focussed imprint in ‘Mutated Battle Breaks Vol. 2’.

From the punchy stabs of opener ‘Recessive’ through to the deep and bumping ‘Pump’, Broom turns in a masterclass in high-energy techno tools. With the quality remaining as consistent as the 4/4 kicks across both sides of the record, ‘Mutated Battle Breaks Vol. 2’ is set to make an appearance in the record bags and USBs of any techno DJs worth their salt worldwide.

Releasing on labels such as Rekids, M-Plant, and Blueprint, the wildly prolific Broom has consistently been at the forefront of the techno scene for decades with his gritty, groove-based output while, away from the dancefloor, his The Fear Ratio project with James Ruskin continues to win critical acclaim.

Giri, also known as Gi Napoletano, is a Naples-born electronic music producer and DJ with a deep-rooted passion for sound design, synths, and vinyl. Influenced by Detroit techno and '90s/2000s UK techno, his style is defined by hypnotic grooves, complex textures, and industrial atmospheres. A pivotal moment in his career came in 2021 with the release of Antichthon, a 19-track concept album on Axis Records, the legendary label founded by Jeff Mills. The project was part of Mills’ Escape Velocity series and marked a major artistic milestone, showcasing Giri’s ability to blend futuristic vision with rhythmic precision. Prior to that, he released EPs on Evod, Awry, Prophet, and others. He also runs Antiterra Records, founded in 2020, and continues to release music under various aliases.
