I've been working on some new music with Tom Hodge, combining piano and electronic elements - the first track preview is below, with the full release coming 20th April.

For this track we made the drums from clanging around inside a broken piano, and then applying some complex editing, so they have an interesting partially live feel, even though rhythmically they are very electronic.

The piano came from a live jam over an initial chord structure, then lots of editing to find that one simple little hook in there. It felt like a reflective piece of music to me, invoking memories, so we chose "remnants". Nick Cobby has taken the concept further with an amazing music video, coming soon!

Dunes of the Old Gods

SDR welcomes Ncomfortable — the alias of Turin-based producer and sound engineer Nicolò Vairo, a
key figure in Italy’s underground bass scene and an early pioneer of the country’s half-time
movement. Rooted in hardcore punk and refined through years living in London and Mexico City, his
sound blends precision, atmosphere, and a constant push against genre clichés.

With “Brujería”, his debut EP on SDR, Ncomfortable delivers a concentrated three-track showcase of
the elements that define his approach. The release opens with an introspective breakbeat piece
layered with dubby undertones, a track that sits between reflection and propulsion — spacious,
emotive, and rhythmically sharp.
The EP then moves into two heavy 140 BPM dubstep cuts, built on dense low-end architecture and a
dark, magnetic energy. Each track highlights his engineering background: clean, intentional sound
design, weighty basslines, and textures that feel both raw and controlled.

At the heart of the release is “Brujería”, the title track — a standout piece defined by its dry yet
enveloping sonic palette. Minimal, shadowy, and quietly hypnotic, it channels the EP’s mystical
essence through finely carved rhythms and an unresolved tension that keeps the listener locked in.
It’s one of Ncomfortable’s most distinctive works, emphasizing subtlety over excess while still
delivering impact.

Little Grids consists of 3 short vignettes that function as glimpses into the antics of several unrelated beings. Firstly, Xiangiao, a gelatinous worm, currently being launched through a tiresome void of peanut rain. We then observe Lummo, an old witch who never learned to die, attempting to teach a gang of half-witted witch children a song that will revive an ancient superpower. Finally, Usohachi, a teenage bug bandit who wears a cool black coat, sipping golden tea whilst nimbly freerunning along the pink cliffsides.

Giorgio Di Salvo signs a new chapter in his Advanced Audio Research: a blast of free-form junglish mayhem, once more released in coproduction with Haunter Records. This time ripe with the furthest experimentations and most far-out cuts coming out of the AAR headquarters.
That’s right, we’re dealing with some serious freakishness : using the same generative process and wicked arsenal of tools as his previous oblation, Di Salvo managed not only to top its rave-ready madness, but also to venture far beyond, arranging the gnarliest noises into wild, crooked beats and mocking melodies.
AAR’s music is still closely related to the heaviest dance music paradigms like breakcore and flashcore, tho it maintains such a unique character and such a distinctive sonic palette that makes it stand within that musical world in a truly refreshing manner.
